2024 DE Governor's race: on Budget & Economy

Matt Meyer: Increased reserves means we can invest without tax increase

He says the county is in great fiscal shape and so is proposing a one-time residential county property tax credit of 5%. Meyer says the county can afford it because reserves increased by 400% since he assumed office six years ago. "As a result, we are also investing in county government services and infrastructure like never before," Meyer says. "Even with such investments, we simply do not need to collect as much from you this year."

Bethany Hall-Long: ARPA funding for housing projects are critical investments

[On ARPA, the American Rescue Plan Act]: "The rising cost of housing is putting the pressure on Delaware families. A person's financial and physical health starts with having a roof over their head; that's why these projects will provide much needed relief to veterans and our most vulnerable community members," said Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long. "I thank our Congressional delegation for securing these critical investments at a time when they will do the most good."

Mike Ramone: Hold lawmakers and agencies accountable for their spending

Now, with Delaware facing a growing deficit, it is going to take a proven executive to make necessary cuts and get Delaware's economy back on track. Delawareans need an executive who will be a responsible steward of their tax dollars. The status quo in Delaware has been throwing more money at the problems instead of addressing their root causes. As Governor, Mike will promote good governance and responsible spending by holding lawmakers and government agencies accountable for their spending.

As Governor, Mike will make the necessary investments to improve infrastructure, giving Delaware a competitive advantage in economic growth and investment.
