Gubernatorial campaign websites: on Abortion

Bill Eigel: Voted for Heartbeat Bill banning abortion in Missouri

Defending Life. Abortion (except in cases of medical emergency) is now illegal in Missouri. Eigel has always been Pro-Life and will continue to defend the most vulnerable Missourians--those that have yet to be born. Eigel voted for the Heartbeat Bill which made Missouri the first state in the United States to ban abortions. Missouri public monies should not be used to support any organization that provides abortion to women, inside Missouri or outside our borders.

Patrick Morrisey: The first pro-life Attorney General in West Virginia history

JB McCuskey: McCuskey supported laws prohibiting abortion procedures

As a man of faith and the father of two young daughters, J.B. McCuskey believes that each and every life is precious. He is proudly pro-life and will always stand up to fight for our most innocent lives: the unborn. In the state legislature, McCuskey supported laws prohibiting abortion procedures in West Virginia. As governor, he will fight to block liberal policies that threaten unborn lives and will ensure that West Virginia's conservative, pro-life values are upheld.

Andy Wells: I believe life begins at conception, but allow exceptions

I believe life begins at conception. I'm pro-life. I would allow exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and when a mother's life is in danger.

Michael Morgan: Women must have access to healthcare, abortion services

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of gender: This is a simple & fair principle. Women require equal access to the economy and the workplace, the ability to decide if and when to become pregnant, and the right to earn equal pay for equal work. They must have access to affordable healthcare, abortion services, and quality childcare, enabling them to participate fully in government, the corporate world, and the political sphere.

Mike Braun: Secure and strengthen gains we have made to protect life

Strong families are the foundation of a healthy society. Indiana should be a place where starting a family is more affordable and achievable. State lawmakers must work to ensure the gains we have made to protect life are secured and strengthened, while working to help mothers and their infants receive the care and social support they deserve to ensure a healthy start to life.

Bob Ferguson: Protect the right to bodily autonomy, reproductive freedom

Bob is leading the fight to ensure Washingtonians have access to safe abortions and the critical drug mifepristone. He championed the My Health, My Data Act into law -- the strongest health data privacy protections in the country. When Donald Trump attacked contraception access, Bob took him to court and won. Bob led the legal fight to block President Trump's family planning "gag rule." He is protecting the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.

Eric Doden: As a Christian, I am 100 percent pro-life

As a Christian, I am 100 percent pro-life and will always defend the dignity of all life. As Governor, we will work tirelessly to find permanent loving homes for the 13,000 children who are currently in our foster care system. By implementing our Zero-Cost Adoption Plan, we will reduce both the financial and bureaucratic barriers to potential adoptive families.

Eric Doden: Will be a champion for the unborn; for zero-cost adoption

A husband, father, and faithful Christian, I am 100% pro-life and will be a champion for the unborn as Governor. It's not just a religious issue for me, it's a human rights issue.

Being pro-life also means I am also pro-mother, pro-child, and pro-family. We will protect the vulnerable and make Indiana one of the first states in the nation to have zero-cost adoption. I support the sustainment and creation of crisis pregnancy centers and local Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

Jay Ashcroft: Protect pre-born children regardless of circumstances

We believe Missouri's pre-born children are entitled to that protection of life too, regardless of the circumstances of their conception, and since taking office, I have striven to protect them. Missouri led the country to enact and sustain pro-life legislation in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to return the regulation of abortion to states, and I am grateful to have earned the sole endorsement for Governor from Missouri Right to Life.

Curtis Hill: Supports legislation that restricts access to abortion

A Christian and father, Curtis and his wife Teresa are deeply pro-life and know that life begins at conception. In 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade and made abortion a state issue. As governor, Curtis will defend the sanctity of life and support legislation that restricts access to abortion. Abortion is both a legal and a moral issue, and there is no issue more critical to justice than protecting society's most vulnerable: the unborn.

Brian King: Progressive mother's support for Roe v. Wade was influential

Brian's mother, a feminist and progressive, left an indelible mark on his values. She epitomized the principles of autonomy and equality. Her rational and logical approach to issues, notably her disappointment when the Equal Rights Amendment failed in Utah and her support for Roe v. Wade, influenced Brian and his brothers. The dining table debates became a training ground for Brian's ability to navigate nuanced discussions, embracing both emotional and analytical perspectives.

Peter Duval: Person who is pregnant should decide about abortion

Proposal 5 should pass. I am voting YES. Abortion decisions should be made by the person who is pregnant. The Vermont Constitution would be amended to include:

Article 22. [Personal reproductive liberty]: That an individual's right to personal reproductive autonomy is central to the liberty and dignity to determine one's own life course and shall not be denied or infringed unless justified by a compelling State interest achieved by the least restrictive means.
