Gubernatorial campaign websites: on Budget & Economy

Bill Eigel: Cap spending immediately, reduce each year

Reign In Out of Control Spending in Jefferson City: Missouri's budget has grown from $20 billion in 2010 to $49 billion in 2022. We must restore fiscal conservatism. Eigel supports capping spending immediately at current levels and reducing spending each year to bring down reliance on Washington DC and waste in Jefferson City. This overdue restraint will produce significant revenue surpluses that will be used to fund the elimination of personal property and income taxes in the Show Me State.

Andy Wells: COVID-related spending by Congress caused inflation

After Covid stuck politicians spent trillions, money they didn't have. So they borrowed (printed money would be a better word) to pay for their skyrocketing spending. But printing trillions came with a price--it made a dollar worth less. That caused inflation. Prices shot up on everything from hamburgers to gasoline and working families, and family businesses, struggled.

Mark Mullet: Must factor affordability into every government decision

Mark is a firm believer that we must factor in affordability into every decision made in Olympia, from the price of gas to the cost of housing. Both Mark and Kelley come from families that have been in Washington for several generations and they want their own six children to have the opportunity to stay here and start a family of their own.

Mike Braun: America First economic agenda brought unmatched prosperity

Mike Braun spent his career in the private sector, growing a small business into a national company and employing thousands of Hoosiers. Indiana needs policies that help every Hoosier achieve prosperity with a good–paying career. The America First economic agenda brought unmatched prosperity and Indiana should be partnering with industries and business that are committed to growing jobs here in the USA.

Cinde Warmington: Approved additional $40M to expand rural broadband

She has helped deliver resources for job development, affordable housing, and child care services across New Hampshire. Cinde has been closely working with the congressional delegation and, in March, approved an additional $40M to expand the broadband infrastructure in rural New Hampshire where tens of thousands of families are not getting the service they need.

Curtis Hill: Audit government to make appropriate budget cuts

As governor, Curtis will audit the state government to find unnecessary expenditures so Indiana lawmakers can make appropriate budget cuts. In office, Curtis will implement the same accountability measures that reformed the state's attorney general's office to hold government officials, elected leaders, and Indianapolis bureaucrats accountable to Hoosier taxpayers.

JB McCuskey: Natural resources: engine for economic revitalization

West Virginia is blessed with abundant natural resources and wonderful hard working people. These are the keys to our economic engine. I believe in our community and I have confidence that our best days are ahead of us and with the right leadership, greatness is on the horizon.

We can become a thriving economic center again. To reach our valley's potential we must protect and promote our natural resources industry so that it can be the engine driving the economic revitalization of our state and country.

We must also improve our governmental environment -- in the crucial areas of taxation, regulation and innovation -- where the businesses we have can grow and new businesses have confidence to invest in our Valley.

I have a vision for this valley, a vision of greatness. Working together as a community, this greatness can be achieved.

Brian King: Develop a strong workforce to strengthen our economy

Economic Development and Workforce: Decades of long-term planning, fiscal prudence, and conservative policies have shaped Utah's economy into the strongest in the nation. Our world-renowned tourism industry, thriving tech sector, and strong workforce strengthen our economy and provide opportunities for all Utahns.

Dave Reichert: Focus on lowering gas prices and property taxes

We currently compete with California for having the highest gas prices in the nation. Health insurance and property taxes are through the roof. And the cost of food, driven by inflation, is putting a squeeze on people who simply can't afford it.

This is punishing families, hurting small businesses, and forcing countless numbers of citizens to leave our state. All the people are asking for is just a little relief and reprieve.

Unfortunately, many in Olympia continue to push policies that punish people at the pump, crush consumers at the store, and burden families with bills they simply can't pay. As Governor, we will work together to change all this and make our state an affordable place to work and live.

Michael Morgan: Economy should encourage entrepreneurs and work for everyone

ECONOMY + JOBS: VALUE STATEMENT: We need a 21st-century economy that works for everyone. Our economy should encourage entrepreneurs and investment in industries of the future. It should create jobs that pay at least a living wage. It should offer access and opportunity for everyone to improve their lives and pursue their dreams through hard work. Our economy should offer equal pay for equal work – regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or sexual ID.

Jennifer McCormick: Launch comprehensive workforce development initiatives

We will work in collaboration with in-state, national, and international partners to launch comprehensive workforce development initiatives tailored to the needs of emerging industries, setting expectations for and providing support for a highly educated and trained citizenry.

We will pursue federal grants aligned with Indiana's needs and priorities by bringing back your tax dollars from Washington DC.

Merrill Piepkorn: Budget cuts would discourage communities needing help

For years, agency budgets were gutted because times were lean in North Dakota. Now in a time of state prosperity, Governor Doug Burgum proposes a 3% across the board budget cut. Nothing could be more discouraging to our public employees, to prospective workers, and to communities that need help with schools and roads.

Mike Ramone: Hold lawmakers and agencies accountable for their spending

Now, with Delaware facing a growing deficit, it is going to take a proven executive to make necessary cuts and get Delaware's economy back on track. Delawareans need an executive who will be a responsible steward of their tax dollars. The status quo in Delaware has been throwing more money at the problems instead of addressing their root causes. As Governor, Mike will promote good governance and responsible spending by holding lawmakers and government agencies accountable for their spending.

Mike Ramone: Make the necessary investments to improve infrastructure

Delaware was once a national leader in commerce. Mike believes we can get there again. Infrastructure, from roads to ports to rural broadband access, is the backbone of successful economies. As Governor, Mike will make the necessary investments to improve infrastructure, giving Delaware a competitive advantage in economic growth and investment.

Peter Duval: Dedicated funds within state government should be avoided

Dedicated funds within the state government should be avoided. They create fiefdoms and prevent a rational allocation of government resources. Revenue sources should be evaluated for their policy impact and flow to a single General Fund. Expenditures should likewise be evaluated amongst all other expenditures. Ineffective or counterproductive activities should be eliminated instead of underfunded.
