Gubernatorial campaign websites: on Tax Reform

Bill Eigel: Repeal the regressive state personal property tax

Repeal Personal Property Tax in Missouri: No one should be punished every December 1st for the "crime" of just owning a car. Bill Eigel supports repealing personal property tax. This terribly regressive tax specifically harms middle and working class households. Under Bill Eigel's plan, personal property tax will be phased out over several years, ensuring that local entity budgets currently tied to this funding can adjust and plan. NO MORE TAXING MISSOURIANS JUST FOR OWNING A CAR.

Bill Eigel: Eliminate the corporate and personal income tax in Missouri

Eliminate Missouri Personal and Corporate Income Tax: Statistically, the states that have the fastest growing populations (and by extension, fastest growing economies) are those that have no personal income tax. It's time Missouri join Texas, Florida, and Tennessee and enact the #1 pro-growth policy in America by eliminating the income tax. Bill Eigel supports eliminating the corporate and personal income tax in Missouri.

JB McCuskey: Simply put, West Virginians need less taxes, not more

Simply put, West Virginians need less taxes, not more. J.B. McCuskey is a fiscal conservative. He is raising his own family and understands firsthand that lower taxes mean more money in the pockets of hardworking West Virginians, and in turn, better economic growth. In the state legislature, J.B. McCuskey advocated for lower taxes. As State Auditor, he implemented a live databank where West Virginians can see exactly how their tax dollars are being spent.

Mike Braun knows lower taxes mean more money in the hands of individuals and business owners who are going to know how to spend their dollars better than the government. Reducing the size of government is the key to cutting taxes and Mike Braun will work through every state agency to find ways to save money while delivering high-quality services to taxpayers.

Eric Doden: Make school teachers exempt from state income tax

As a state we must have the goal of retaining great teachers and attracting the newest, best, and brightest. Despite spending billions on schools each year, extreme education ideologies and the rising cost of living for young teachers continue to force teachers from the classroom. We have proposed a Teacher Investment program that will make school teachers exempt from state income tax while also providing them property tax relief. We will do this without new spending or new taxes.

Curtis Hill: Cut spending; eliminate income tax on earners aged 18-35

On day one, Curtis' top priority will be providing relief to Indiana taxpayers struggling to put food in their fridges and fuel in their tanks. As governor, Curtis will cut wasteful government spending and slash government regulation to allow individuals and small businesses to prosper.. As governor, Curtis will cut taxes and work with businesses to invest in Indiana through job creation and land development.

Our plan to eliminate the income tax on earners aged 18-35 would encourage young professionals to stay in Indiana while encouraging companies to expand into Indiana. The lost revenue would be made up by an increased tax base of businesses and corporations. Indiana would be the first in the nation to implement such a tax structure, and it would pay off with young professionals moving to and remaining in Indiana to start businesses and families of their own.

Merrill Piepkorn: Don't pass bill eliminating income tax for mega-wealthy

We need to support public education infrastructure and teacher pay. What about our universities, which have chopped departments and faculty? And please, let's be on guard and not let the Legislature pass a bill that eliminates income tax for the mega-wealthy.
