Eric Doden in 2024 IN Governor's race
On Abortion:
As a Christian, I am 100 percent pro-life
As a Christian, I am 100 percent pro-life and will always defend the dignity of all life. As Governor, we will work tirelessly to find permanent loving homes for the 13,000 children who are currently in our foster care system.
By implementing our Zero-Cost Adoption Plan, we will reduce both the financial and bureaucratic barriers to potential adoptive families.

On Abortion:
Will be a champion for the unborn; for zero-cost adoption
A husband, father, and faithful Christian, I am 100% pro-life and will be a champion for the unborn as Governor. It's not just a religious issue for me, it's a human rights issue.Being pro-life also means I am also pro-mother, pro-child, and
pro-family. We will protect the vulnerable and make Indiana one of the first states in the nation to have zero-cost adoption. I support the sustainment and creation of crisis pregnancy centers and local Safe Haven Baby Boxes.

On Budget & Economy:
Partner with local leaders to revitalize small towns
He also wants to take this strategy to a smaller scale as well by using state funds to help revitalize small towns throughout the state. "There is this real opportunity for us to partner with local leaders who want to restore their community," said
Doden. "That's what our 'Indiana Main Street' initiative is all about. It's about taking 10-percent of our budget and saying we will work with these leaders in small towns."

On Budget & Economy:
State can offer incentives but must be private sector led
Doden said his campaign is one of ideas about how to revitalize communities across Indiana, particularly small towns of 30,000 or fewer residents. He told the gathering that his Main Street Initiative would provide financial incentives of $100 million
a year for private businesses to invest in those small communities. "We cannot be the state with four, five or six counties doing well. We need to be the state where all 92 counties are doing well, but it has to be private-sector led," he said.

On Crime:
Prevent rogue prosecutors from unilaterally defying our laws
I do not support stripping qualified immunity protections that make it easier to unfairly sue law enforcement officers for doing their jobs.Indianapolis currently ranks as the 12th most violent city in America. Under my Administration, we'll remove
Indianapolis from that list by removing violent criminals from the streets and empowering our law enforcement officers by establishing a bipartisan prosecutor review board to prevent rogue prosecutors from unilaterally defying our laws.

On Drugs:
For strongest sentencing guidelines for fentanyl crimes
I believe we have to protect the vulnerable and that means supporting all measures that stop the flow of fentanyl into Indiana homes, towns, and communities.A Doden
Administration will devote agency leadership and resources specifically to caring for individuals and families suffering from addiction. I support the strongest sentencing guidelines possible for those convicted of importing or distributing fentanyl.

On Education:
I support ensuring transparency in school curriculums
Parents have the ultimate say when it comes to the well being of their children. We have to protect our families and parental rights. The best form of government is self-government, and then it's the family unit.
Teachers should teach. Parents should parent. Parents have a right to know what is being taught in the classroom, and I support all measures to ensure transparency in school curriculums.

On Gun Control:
I am a firearm owner and 100% pro-Second Amendment
- I am a firearm owner and 100% pro-Second Amendment
- The right to bear arms shall not be infringed.
- As Governor, I will not sign any piece of legislation that restricts the rights of law abiding gun owners enshrined in our U.S. Constitution.
- I support and treasure our Indiana Constitution's unique right to ensure citizens' rights to self-defense.
- I support Constitutional Carry and would never sign legislation as Governor restricting or repealing it.

On Health Care:
Ensure hospitals provide full transparency in pricing
The state of Indiana spends billions of dollars each year on health care while providing special tax breaks to health care institutions. As Governor, we will implement a plan to ensure hospitals provide full transparency in pricing and their use of
taxpayer funding. We will also incentivize non-profit hospitals to invest a portion of their billions in profits -- which are currently on Wall Street -- back into the Main Streets of the communities they serve.

On Principles & Values:
My values traced to faith, family, small town roots
Every one of us is shaped by our upbringing and our experiences. My conservative values can be traced back to my faith, family, and small town roots. Then, through my days attending
Hillsdale College, raising my own family, operating and starting businesses, and entering public service at the state and local level. Many Hoosiers share these common sense values.

On Tax Reform:
Make school teachers exempt from state income tax
As a state we must have the goal of retaining great teachers and attracting the newest, best, and brightest. Despite spending billions on schools each year, extreme education ideologies and the rising cost of living for young teachers continue to force
teachers from the classroom. We have proposed a Teacher Investment program that will make school teachers exempt from state income tax while also providing them property tax relief. We will do this without new spending or new taxes.

On Abortion:
Ardently pro-life including zero-cost adoption policy
Our zero-cost adoption policy is bringing people together on an issue that can often divide. People know I'm ardently pro life, but they also appreciate that we have a zero-cost adoption policy for the 13,000 kids in foster care.
And those are the ideas--teacher investment program, our commitment to early childhood education--all these ideas are on our website, and I think it clearly sets us apart from our other candidates in this race.

On Civil Rights:
Life skills for parents; no LGBTQ issues in schools
Q: The 2023 legislative session dealt with culture war topics such as LGBTQ issues and school library books. Where do you stand on those issues?A: What I've heard from parents across the state as I've traveled is, they want transparency about what's
being taught, and they want accountability, and they want to be involved and engaged. Teachers sort of teach the basics, the parents want to be able to teach the life skills and some of the moral code. To me, part of this is common sense.
There's age-appropriate material. Let's just use a little common sense and make sure that we have age-appropriate material for kids as they're getting educated. As governor, my role is just to be a part of that conversation. I have a certain
responsibility to make sure that the trains run on time and that we operate things well and that we have really talented agency heads that are creating efficiencies and effective government that serve people, and that's going to be my primary focus.

On Corporations:
Lure corporations to revitalize our neglected economy
Eric Holcomb asked to see a plan. I have one. What do our plans address? They call for taking 10% of what the state spends on tax incentives intended to lure corporations to Indiana and instead investing in all
92 counties to restore and revitalize our neglected small towns and rural economy--our Indiana Main Street Initiative.
They call for a reinvigoration and restoration of local control for what is now the READI program as Regional Cities 2.0, to inspire every region in our state to work and grow together.
But we also know that for Indiana to be a strong state, we must have a strong capital city, so we developed a public safety and infrastructure zone for Indianapolis' Mile Square.

On Crime:
Develop moral character to maintain law & order
Q: Gun violence is an epidemic in today's American society. How should Indiana respond?A: A deep commitment to law and order. A lot of the issues are coming from people who are disobeying the law, and I don't think we should make gun laws for people
who are obeying the law. We should focus on making sure that we properly prosecute people, that we hold them accountable, that they're just not allowed to go out and feel the freedom to go shoot up a neighborhood or a street without consequences, and
swift consequences. For me, it's about law and order, but then also it's about, how are we training our kids, how are we developing their moral character? A lot of these issues are centered around the development of moral character, and that's why
I look at a lot of these organizations that are trying to help kids, whether it's Boy Scouts or Boys and Girls Club, that are trying to help these kids understand, how should we treat each other? Treat others the way that you want to be treated.

On Energy & Oil:
I'll support any energy source that keeps costs low
?Doden: Our next governor's focus should be to make sure Hoosiers have affordable, reliable and available energy. Right now, that means natural gas and coal. That's why on day one, I will sign an executive order to keep our coal plants open, generating
power, until the market supports a reliable and affordable replacement. At the end of the day, I'll support any energy source that keeps costs low and the lights on for homeowners and businesses.

On Environment:
Knocked EPA for coercing states to shut down power plants
When Reliable Energy asked the candidates how they'd handle rising demand and anticipated supply challenges, several said they'd keep coal-powered plants open. Chambers said he'd resist U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) "pressure for premature closure of Indiana's coal-fired power plants," while Doden knocked the agency for "coerc(ing) states nationwide into shutting down local power plants."

On Families & Children:
Zero-Cost Adoption fund to help those in foster care
Because more 13,000 Hoosier children are in the Foster Care system, we released a plan to implement a Zero-Cost Adoption fund to help those in foster care find the loving homes they deserve.
Discussed on the national stage during the GOP Presidential primary, this plan has already been introduced as draft legislation here in Indiana--as well as in Missouri.

On Government Reform:
Work within system instead of new citizens' ballot question
Q: Should citizens have a right to collect signatures to put questions on the ballot without legislative approval?
A: Right now, I probably don't have a strong opinion on that. I look at our system and I just work within the system.

On Government Reform:
People want accountability & transparency with elections
Q: Do you believe the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump?A: No, I do not. But I also think people should be able to ask questions, and I think people want accountability. They want transparency.
From my point of view, some of the questions and some of the conversations that have happened are conversations that in democracy need to happen.

Would send National Guard troops to the southern border
Doden began his response by saying that President Joe Biden and Congress "need to do their jobs." Doden also said that, if elected, he would send
National Guard troops to the southern border. He added that, in addition to mobilizing troops, he would support Indiana law enforcement agencies to combat local drug dealers.
