Suzanne Crouch in 2024 IN Governor's race

On Abortion: Rape/incest survivors need notarized affidavit for abortion

[Indiana Democratic Party press release in opposition]: Additionally, Crouch has shown that she has no problem supporting her Party's extremist agenda. Let's not forget Crouch cast the tie-breaking vote to require survivors of rape or incest to have their affidavits notarized before getting a legal and safe abortion. There's little evidence to believe Crouch would actually put a stop to this extreme level of politics.

On Abortion: Supports a near-total abortion ban, focus on women's health

Crouch addressed reproductive health in the state, saying she is pro-life and wants to focus on women's health in regards to future legislation. She touted Senate Bill 2, passed during a special legislative summer session, saying it provided "$75 million for the support of families and for the support of mothers and babies". The legislation is a near-total abortion ban.

On Corporations: Invest on rate of return, not "woke ideologies"

ESG: "I strongly support [House Bill] 1008, which directs the Indiana Public Retirement board to refrain from making investments based on #woke ideologies. We let the free market determine the highest rate of return for our public employees' pensions."

On Energy & Oil: Supports venture turning animal waste into natural gas

Crouch joined BioTown AG officials, county officials and others involved in the newest BioTown AG venture, BioGas LLC. The Agriculture business welcomed all who are involved in the process of changing livestock manure into clean natural gas from methane produced by the waste. Crouch told Furrer, the company is helping Indiana imagine the future by helping the state reduce its carbon footprint. "It's an honor to be here at this momentous occasion," she said.

Crouch will be part of a delegation of agriculture and tourism leaders heading to Mexico to develop economic partnerships and strengthen agricultural ties. Crouch is leading the trip in collaboration with the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, the Indiana Office of Tourism Development and the Indiana Economic Development Corp. On Gun Control: Democrats want to restrict our rights to bear arms

Crouch said with Democrats in control of Congress and President Joe Biden we are seeing what socialism will do to our country. "They want to nationalize elections and restrict our rights to bear arms," she said. "Big government and corporation media are eroding our rights."

On Immigration: Biden's border policy really about new Democratic voters

But some recent remarks from Crouch's campaign Twitter account take a harder stance. It's almost like someone has a check-list somewhere of conservative, hot-button topics she must weigh in on. The U.S.-Mexico border: "President Biden and his Democrat puppets don't care if our Southern border is secure," Crouch tweeted recently. She said Biden's border policy is a "Democrat voter registration drive masquerading as an immigration policy."

On Principles & Values: Will protect our faith, families, and freedom

I have a clear vision for Indiana's future – lower taxes, keep our citizens safe, protect the sanctity of life, and defend Hoosier values. I will fight to make sure Washington politicians never compromise our Hoosier values, ensuring we will always be there for the most vulnerable while protecting our faith, families, and freedom.

On Principles & Values: Democrats weaponizing government against Donald Trump

Donald Trump: "It is clear that Joe Biden and the Democrats will stop at nothing when it comes to weaponizing government against Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton started it seven years ago, and they haven't stopped since. Political persecution has no place in government."

On Drugs: Hemp offers our farmers another source of income

Hemp is extremely important in Indiana because it offers our farmers another source of income. The challenge is to be sure that we have markets. It's been exciting to see a $10 million plant open in Westfield. We will continue to work with ISDA to ensure farmers have markets for hemp.

On Foreign Policy: Condemn attack on Israel, look to provide assistance

Several Indiana leaders such as Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said the U.S. should condemn the attack. "We have to look at the assistance that we can provide and I think all options should be on the table." Lt. Gov. Crouch said.

On Free Trade: Cultivating relationships can open the door to new markets

[On leading international delegation]: "Manitoba is at the center of Canadian agriculture, so this trip is an excellent opportunity for us to, not only demonstrate our global leadership in the industry, but also cultivate our relationship with Canada, which can open the door to new markets," said Crouch. "We look forward to visiting this province and building on the progress made during the governor's visits to Canada last spring."

On Government Reform: Goal of growing Indiana's economy through fewer regulations

Crouch's messaging has led with her goal of growing Indiana's economy through fewer regulations, but Crouch has also spoken on more hot-button social issues since announcing her candidacy in December. She's consistently bashed the Biden Administration's border security policies on social media and said she wants to fight left-wing ideologies coming into Indiana.

On Health Care: Have a responsibility to expand rural mental health access

Leaders at the Rural Justice and Public Health Professionals Summit identified how limited resources present a unique challenge to rural communities trying to improve mental health services. Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said rural professionals and leaders have an important role in addressing barriers to mental health services. "It's not the hand you're dealt," Crouch said. "It's how you play it that's important. But we have a responsibility to give people good cards to play."

On Principles & Values: Indiana law gives parents their "God-given rights"

Some recent remarks from Crouch's campaign Twitter account take a harder stance, like a check-list somewhere of conservative, hot-button topics she must weigh in on:

"[House Enrolled Act] 1608, which passed this session, gives parents their God-given rights and authority when it comes to raising their children."

On Technology: Rural broadband is no longer a luxury but a necessity

COVID-19 has shown us that rural broadband is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Of the $100 million that Gov. Holcomb and I have invested in rural broadband, we've already awarded $28 million in grants, which has resulted in a $51 million investment from the private sector. We're now in the second round of grants, and that is just the beginning.

On Corporations: Reduce corporate income tax; eliminate the inheritance tax

Q: ease the financial pressure on Indiana's Main Street businesses

Suzanne Crouch: As state representative, I voted for the largest property tax cut in our state's history. I voted to reduce the corporate income tax, voted to eliminate the inheritance tax. I want to lead the fight to eliminate Indiana state income tax because not only does it give Hoosiers money back and small businesses will be able to grow, but because what happens when we give people money back? They put it into the economy.

Mike Braun: The way you finance any lower taxes would be to make our government run more efficiently. [Then] you can finance lower taxes, but you got to do that first. Otherwise, you’re just saying it with no way to do it.

On Education: Remove income requirements for all school choice programs

A hallmark of my public service career is the fight for parental school choice. Even though these recent program expansions mean nearly every K-12 student in Indiana can receive a scholarship to attend the school of their choice, we simply cannot rest until we have provided this opportunity to every single Indiana student. As we look forward, we must remove the income requirement for participation in all of our school choice programs.

On Health Care: Increase healthcare funding; Indiana ranks 48th in spending

Healthcare funding is one aspect of quality of life Crouch pointed to as an area of improvement in Indiana and a focus for the upcoming state legislative session. "Indiana unfortunately ranks 48th in the country in terms of what we spend on public health," Crouch shared. "That is why this upcoming session that issue will be taken up by the General Assembly, because the Public Health Commission did a study on what steps we need to take to improve the health of Hoosiers."

On Civil Rights: Fight racism, but also fight reverse racism

Q: EQUALITY: Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

A: Racism has no place in Indiana, the laws will be enforced, and I will not tolerate mistreatment or crimes based on prejudice. The current movement in the country to focus on race by widespread accusations of racism is being done to divide us into groups. This movement contradicts our values and results in reverse racism. I believe in meritocracy with equal opportunity for all. I will not support any program or policy that seeks to guarantee equality of outcomes or quotas.

Q: I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist?

A: Strongly Disagree

On Crime: Don't redirect police funds to community programs

Q:CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY: I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs?

A: Strongly Disagree

On Energy & Oil: Supports "All of the Above" strategy

Q: Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws cost too many jobs. B) Stricter environmental laws are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

A: Stricter environmental laws and regulations do have a cost and can deter jobs and economic growth. We need to follow reasonable rules that avoid the harmful effects of regulation and also recognize that we are stewards and need to maintain a clean and healthy environment. Our energy policy needs to be balanced with an emphasis on foreign independence, affordability, and reliability as the energy markets transition.

Q: What do you believe is the most reliable energy source?

A: We need to continue an All of the Above strategy focused on the five pillars of electric service: affordability, reliability, resilience, stability, and environmental sustainability to guide current and new energy policies for Indiana.

On Environment: No ESG: don't invest based on environmental ratings

Q: Should ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

A: No. Environmental and social issues, like ESG ratings should never be used as criteria for investing public monies. As a former Ways & Means Committee Chair & State Auditor, I know that when it comes to investing public monies the primary goal is prudently investing funds establishing transparency and seeking reasonable returns to stretch public dollars as far as possible.

On Families & Children: Let parents decide for kids, but not gender transition

Q: VALUES: Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation?

A: Strongly Agree.

Q: Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children?

A: Strongly Agree

Q: Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services?

A: Strongly Disagree

Q: Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison?

A: Strongly Agree

Q: Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

A: Strongly Agree. Strong families, based on a God-ordained traditional definition of marriage between a man and a woman, have been the foundation of society for millennia. We respect and honor individuals and families of various ideas and perspectives.

On Gun Control: Allow teachers to carry guns at school

Q: 2ND AMENDMENT: What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

A: I believe in the right to "keep and bear arms" and that the Second Amendment protects private gun ownership by all lawful citizens. I affirm Section 32 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana, which states "the people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State." Finally, I applaud the passage of "Constitutional carry" by the Indiana General Assembly. Indiana General Assembly.

Q: Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

A: Yes.

On Jobs: Free enterprise instead of Bidenomics

Q: ECONOMY: Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system?

A: Strongly Agree

Q: What is your position on the minimum wage?

A: I support free-enterprise solutions as a way to address issues facing our state. Hard working Hoosiers have felt the crushing effects of Bidenomics. The typical American household must spend an additional $11,400 more today than they did 3 years ago.

On War & Peace: CCP is a threat; Israel is an ally

Q: NATIONAL SECURITY: The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States?

A: Strongly Agree

Q: Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

A: The US-Israel relationship is extremely important for a variety of reasons. Our countries are bound closely by mutual interests, economic prosperity, regional security, historic, cultural and religious ties. The Middle East is more dangerous now than at any time since WWII, with Iran being the main culprit of instability in the Region. A strong relationship with Israel, both economically and militarily, has always been important to the US government's overall foreign policy in the Middle East.

On Civil Rights: Push back against the woke culture

Q: The 2023 legislative session dealt with culture war topics such as LGBTQ issues and school library books. Where do you stand on those issues?

A: I think Indiana's quite honestly not in a bad place. I think we're in a good place. We are culturally a conservative state. And I think, if anything, we need to look at how we can push back against the woke culture that's trying to take control and make decisions on our lives that maybe we aren't always in agreement to and kind of pushes back against who we are as Hoosiers. The General Assembly passing the bill to allow fairness in sports and then overriding the governor's veto was the right decision to make. People want freedom to live their lives as they want to live them. And when we have a government and we have corporations and we have big business and other groups telling us how we can't live our lives or how we should live our lives, I think that's when people push back.

On Government Reform: Let Assembly decide on citizen ballot questions

Q: Should citizens have a right to collect signatures to put questions on the ballot without legislative approval?

A: Well, it would require a constitutional change and that would be up to the General Assembly. So I trust the General Assembly to make the right decision in that.
