Josh Hawley: Facebook is anti-competitive, should be broken up

Two of the most ideologically opposed members of the Senate, Josh Hawley and Bernie Sanders, are arguing essentially the same thing: that Facebook should be broken up. By predatorily acquiring Instagram and WhatsApp, by integrating its original message board-like function and its photo sharing and chat acquisitions into its data mining and advertising operations, Facebook has met all the established definitions of anti-competitive behavior. Josh Hawley: Opposed $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill

Economy:

Josh Hawley (R): Mixed. Voted against $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill. Supports stronger antitrust laws, including a ban on all mergers and acquisitions by companies with a market capitalization of over $100 billion. Supports breaking up Amazon.com and large meatpacking and poultry monopolies.
Lucas Kunce (D): Increase. Criticizes Wall Street for destroying US's production power. "Monopolists" control the defense industry. Increase the Defense Department's power to regulate contracts. Wants a "historic investment… to rebuild our forgotten towns and cities… and start making stuff in America again."

Lucas Kunce: Adopt industrial policy to decarbonize transportation sector

[In a campaign ad against Kunce], Sen. Josh Hawley criticized Kunce over his call to eliminate the country's reliance on fossil fuels. Hawley's claim relies on an essay Kunce wrote in the American Prospect in 2021. In the essay, Kunce argued that the U.S. needed to end its reliance on fossil fuels for the sake of national security. "For our national security, we must adopt an industrial policy to rapidly and fully decarbonize our energy and transportation sectors," Kunce wrote. "We need to ditch all fossil fuels, not just oil, the same way we ditched whale oil for petroleum in the late 1800s."

The essay, argues that the U.S. could decrease its involvement in the Middle East if the country no longer relied on oil, before going on to talk about global security concerns created by severe weather events attributed to climate change. Hawley's campaign seized on the line "we need to ditch all fossil fuels" and applied it to pickup trucks. Kunce's essay makes no mention of pickup trucks.
