2024 NC Governor's race: on Abortion
Josh Stein:
I'm in court fighting for women's reproductive freedom
Attorney General Josh Stein today challenged a decision that could restrict medication abortion access nationwide. Stein and a coalition of 24 attorneys general filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the court to stop a district court ruling from
taking effect while an appeal is ongoing. The ruling, if it took effect, would overturn the FDA's 23-year-approval of the medication abortion drug mifepristone. Unwinding FDA approval would drastically reduce women's access to safe abortion care and
ability to manage miscarriages, and trample states' authority to protect access to medical care for abortions."Medication abortion is safe and effective, and has been for decades," said Stein. "The medication is safer than Tylenol or Viagra.
This judge's decision is wrong on every level, and it takes away safe medical care for women, putting their health at risk. I'm in court fighting for women's reproductive freedom so women in North Carolina can make decisions about their own bodies."

Mark Robinson:
Made wrong decision getting abortion, are adamantly pro-life
In March 2022, Robinson confirmed that he and his wife, Yolanda, decided to end her pregnancy with an abortion before they were married, saying they made the wrong decision. "This decision has been with us ever since. It's because of this
experience and our spiritual journey, that we are so adamantly pro-life," he said at the time. "The amount of children we've already killed in the womb in this nation is intolerable," Robinson said in his speech at the church.

Andy Wells:
I believe life begins at conception, but allow exceptions
I believe life begins at conception. I'm pro-life.
I would allow exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and when a mother's life is in danger.

Mark Robinson:
No taxpayer funding for abortion providers
RIGHT TO LIFE:- Q: Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
A: My wife and I have experienced the difficult and painful experience of abortion before--this is part of what has made me so strongly prolife. I support
legislation that would restrict abortion after a heartbeat is detected, with protections for extreme situations such as rape, incest or when the life of the mother is in danger. - Q: Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards and
require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes?
A: Strongly Agree - Q: Do you support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide & euthanasia?
A: Strongly Disagree. I am prolife and oppose assisted suicide and euthanasia.
- Q: Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
A: Strongly Agree. I am opposed to taxpayer funding for abortion providers.

Josh Stein:
Defend women's rights to contraception, IVF or abortion
Abortion : Ban or legal?- Mark Robinson (R): Ban. In 2020 advocated for a complete ban, no exceptions. "I want North Carolina to be the most pro-life state in the nation.... Abortion is murder."
- Josh Stein (D):
Legal. Would "defend women's rights" to "contraception, IVF or abortion." Would "never stop fighting" for "women's reproductive freedom." Called "many" parts of NC's new abortion law "unconstitutional."
