2024 NC Governor's race: on Environment

Mark Robinson: No environmental ESG ratings in public spending

Q: Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
A: No. The priority should be responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars that evaluates risk and return on financial terms--not based on extreme political agendas.

Dale Folwell: ESG raises the cost of doing business in NC

Q: Should ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings be used in deciding where to invest public monies?

A: No. As State Treasurer, I'm the only person in the US who officially asked for Larry Fink of Blackrock to be fired because of his attempts to politicize the NC Pension System. As Chair of the State Banking Commission, I found ESG is/was raising the cost of doing business in NC. ESG needs to stand for NC Energy independence, Safe neighborhoods and Good government.
