Curtis Bashaw: Pro-choice, but supports Dobbs decision leaving it to states

The Republican insists he's pro-choice, despite supporting the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Dobbs decision, which handed the issue back to the states. "I believe government shouldn't be coming into our homes and telling us what to do. Which is why I don't think it's inconsistent to be pro-choice and also to believe if there are going to be regulations about something that personal, they should be best done at lower levels of government closer to the communities they're seeking to regulate."

George Helmy: Played a role in codifying Roe v. Wade into state law

As Murphy's chief of staff, Helmy played a primary role in guiding New Jersey through a global pandemic, significant upgrades of the state's credit ratings, and the passage of legislation codifying Roe v. Wade into state law and strengthening the state's gun safety regulations. On Helmy's watch, Murphy became the first Democratic governor in 44 years to win re-election.
