On Budget & Economy: Mitigate risk of recurring damage due to extreme weather

• Supported reforming the National Flood Insurance Program to protect New Jersey homeowners from unreasonably high rate increases; and
• Passed legislation into law to make our roads and infrastructure more resilient and mitigate the risk of recurring damage due to extreme weather as a part of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

On Drugs: Educate the public on fentanyl & synthetic opioids

• Authored legislation that would direct the CDC to conduct a public education campaign about the dangers of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids as well as the treatment services available.
• Authored legislation that would direct the CDC to disseminate information on synthetic opioids to healthcare providers and require the development of training materials for first responders and other workers at high risk of exposure on synthetic opioid exposure prevention measures.

On Government Reform: No officials having stock ownership in individual companies

• Authored legislation to prohibit high-ranking officials across all three branches of the government--including Congress, the President/Executive Branch, and Supreme Court--from owning stock in individual companies.
• Authored legislation to prohibit Members of Congress from having outside employment or income, sitting on corporate boards, or lobbying for the rest of their life after leaving in Congress.

On Health Care: Expand Medicare: cover vision, hearing, and dental benefits

• Voted to allow Medicare to negotiate down the cost of prescription drugs;
• Authored legislation to create annual out-of-pocket cap for seniors in Medicare Part D;
• Authored legislation to support states that have created their own state-based insurance marketplaces (like GetCoveredNJ);
• Voted to expand Medicare to cover vision, hearing, and dental benefits; and
• Supported lowering the Medicare eligibility age to allow more Americans to enroll sooner.

On Homeland Security: Helped veteran-owned businesses compete on federal projects

During my time in Congress, I have:
• Led the effort to nearly double funding for veteran suicide prevention outreach programs;
• Introduced legislation to honor the legendary all-Black Buffalo soldier regiments that have served throughout American history;
• Authored legislation to ensure state-run veteran cemeteries have the resources they need; and
• Led the effort to give more veteran-owned businesses the opportunity to compete for work on federal transportation projects.

On Gun Control: Critical that Congress pass ban on bump stocks

Curtis Bashaw said he was also disappointed in the ruling. "I believe a bump stock ban is a reasonable and effective gun safety measure," Bashaw stated. "In the United States Senate, I will support bipartisan legislation that protects law-abiding citizens, while keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill."
