2024 NY Senate race: on Abortion

Josh Eisen: I think there is room for pregnancy terminations

Eisen clarified that the Republican Party will not nominate someone who takes the positions that he took. "I was running on a pro-union platform. I don't believe that life begins at conception; I think there is room for pregnancy terminations, certainly the Plan B pill. Legalizing marijuana, pro-union or the abortion positions are things that no Republican elected official can publicly talk about. For these reasons, I did not primary on the Republican line. "

Mike Sapraicone: NY abortion law too liberal but leave issue to the states

When it comes to abortion, Sapraicone said he believes New York's law, which allows abortions up until the 24th week after fertilization, are too liberal. But he does not support a national abortion ban and instead thinks restrictions on terminating pregnancies should be decided by individual states, which is the standard established by the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022. "I think it's in the right hands with the states and that's kind of out of my control," Sapraicone said.
