Survey of 2024 Presidential campaign websites: on Health Care

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: We will move from a sick care system to a wellness society

We face today a terrible pandemic—not of Covid, but of chronic disease. Autoimmunity, allergies, diabetes, obesity, addiction, anxiety, and depression afflict two-thirds of the population, up from a few percent in our grandparents' time. A Kennedy administration will go beyond making existing modalities available to all, to include low-cost alternative and holistic therapies that have been marginalized in a pharma-dominated system. We will move from a sick care system to a wellness society.

Marianne Williamson: Take a whole body systems approach to cultivating health

The Williamson administration will provide major funding for research and education around how health is impacted by nutrition, exercise, stress, community and toxins in our food and environment. It will also support effective leading-edge approaches like Integrative and Functional medicine--which take a whole body systems approach to cultivating health and healing disease.

Will Hurd: Health insurance isn't healthcare, government not the answer

What gets lost in the uproar about efforts to bring health insurance to more people is that health insurance is not healthcare. More than a decade after the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, there are still millions of people who cannot access or afford quality healthcare. They may have received expensive insurance but they do not have the financial resources to pay for treatment. Having government agencies make decisions on the kind of care an individual should receive is not the answer.

Asa Hutchinson: Federal government should never be sole healthcare provider

The federal government should never be the sole provider of healthcare to Americans. If that happens, quality of care will decline. We must instead return to the power of consumer choice. These are the virtues that improve quality and lower costs. States must also be given the freedom and flexibility to innovate in order to meet the unique challenges at home. Solving the problem will require leadership that places public interest ahead of our current political divide.

Chase Oliver: Market alternatives to over-regulated healthcare

LOWER THE COST OF HEALTHCARE THROUGH MARKET & INNOVATION: Healthcare is too expensive because of government overregulation. We should advocate for market alternatives to heavily regulated employer-provided insurance such as the Direct Primary Care model. We should also reform how we bring new drugs to market & end practices such as patent evergreening which keep the cost of too many drugs artificially high. With more choices & free market forces, we will see a drop in the cost of healthcare overall.

Ryan Binkley: Obamacare has ballooned Medicaid costs; it doesn't work

I will freeze Medicare and Medicaid spending, and then end the monopolies on insurance exchanges, health care providers, and Big Pharma. As I said, we need to cut the things that don't work. One example is Obamacare. That program, through its regulations and subsidies, has ballooned Medicaid costs and provided benefits to people that Medicaid was never intended to cover. For all the billions spent, coverage is now more expensive, and health care choices have decreased.
