Survey of 2024 Senate campaign websites: on Environment

Peter Ricketts: Biden's conservation goals would devastate state's economy

Ricketts led 15 Governors to push back on Biden's goal "of conserving at least 30% of our lands and waters by 2030." The order parrots the policy goals of radical environmental groups. In Nebraska, 97% of our land is privately owned. Getting to 30% would require a major federal intervention. Setting aside that much land and water for conservation would also devastate food production, our rural communities, and our state’s overall economy.

Mike Braun: EPA's new emissions standards are overbearing overreach

Braun released the following statement on President Biden's proposed new emissions standards, which intend to make 2/3 of all new passenger cars and ¼ of all trucks sold in the U.S. electric by 2032. "President Biden and his EPA are proposing unrealistic emissions standards to try to push the public further than they are willing to go... I ran a shipping and logistics business for 37 years, so I know this kind of overbearing government overreach will make everything more expensive."

Tim Sheehy: Need to stand strong against the radical environmentalists

I have a unique perspective on what the federal government is failing to address when it comes to tackling wildfires--they need to let Montana start managing our federal lands. We also need to stand strong against the radical environmentalists who are suing and shutting down timber projects with frivolous litigation. If we can responsibly manage our forests, we can harvest timber, create high-paying jobs, and reduce the threat of wildfires.

Tim Sheehy: We must repeal the new EPA job-killing energy regulations

We must repeal the new EPA job-killing energy regulations and mandates that the Democrats put on our economy that are driving up costs and preventing us from being energy independent--this serves only to embolden our adversaries and makes energy costs soar for hardworking Montanans. We must also take a strong stand against the disastrous socialist Green New Deal that would destroy Montana's economy and jobs and devastate our communities.

Kari Lake: Exempt western water projects from environmental review

Kari Lake believes and would seek a formal federal declaration that a new water delivery system for Western states is a matter of national and economic security, and as such should be exempted from the extremely lengthy environmental review processes and legal challenges which are used to derail and drive up the cost of major infrastructure projects.

Robert Hyde: Ardent advocate for animal rights; no abuse tolerated

Robert has a soft spot for animals, particularly his beloved German Shepherd, Thunder. He is an ardent advocate for animal rights, ensuring that no form of animal abuse is tolerated and that they receive the protection they deserve.

Laphonza Butler: Ensure access to clean water& recreation in our public parks

Senator Butler is working to ensure the people of California have access to clean water, a healthy environment, and recreation in our public lands and parks. This includes providing federal funding to the millions of Californians currently facing soaring water rates and struggling to access clean water. She supports expanding protections for California's parks, forests, deserts, other magnificent public lands, and oceans. She is also committed to holding polluters accountable, and to improving California's water infrastructure and river flows to ensure that California's cities, farms, and imperiled fish populations can withstand severe droughts.

Eric Hansen: Regulation simply increases costs, slows down innovation

Regulation will simply increase costs for everyone, it will slow down innovation and let China win the green energy race. We can't afford that. We need to promote and incentivize innovation.

Dirty energy tariffs on China and India plus US innovation is what will solve both the climate AND the energy problem.
