Survey of 2024 Senate campaign websites: on Health Care

Ruben Gallego: Supports Medicaid and Medicare expansion

Ruben has long been a champion for improving health care access for families. He was an unwavering supporter of Medicaid expansion. For seniors, Ruben was thrilled to pass lower prescription drug prices as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. He will continue to stand up to any attempt to privatize or cut Medicare on behalf of the 1.25 million Arizonans who rely on it--and he will fight every day to expand Medicare benefits.

Tim Sheehy: Government control of health care has made things worse

Our health care system is broken. Because of Obamacare, Montanans face higher premiums year after year. More government control of our health care has only made things worse. Like most Montanans, I believe we need to promote greater transparency, competition, and shopping for services in our health care system. We should be rewarding outcomes and innovation, improving access to care in our rural communities, and most importantly, protecting Montanans with pre-existing conditions.

David Trone: Championed fight against addiction, mental health crisis

In Congress, David has helped lead the fight for progressive priorities like raising the minimum wage and passing the Inflation Reduction Act, the most significant climate legislation in U.S. history. He has championed the fight against addiction and the mental health crisis, forming the Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force, a 140-member group that passed 26 bills into law to help turn the tide on the over 100,000 American lives we lost to overdose last year alone.

Kelly Ayotte: Growing need in state for more mental health services

To continue tackling the growing needs in our state for more mental health outpatient and inpatient services, we need to address the workforce shortage in the healthcare industry. We must attract and retain a high-quality workforce that includes more psychologists, counselors, nurses, and others to ensure Granite Staters receive the quality care they need.

Roland Gutierrez: Established the Warrior Resiliency Center to treat PTSD

As State Representative, Roland prioritized mental health programs by establishing the Warrior Resiliency Center in San Antonio to focus on the treatment of PTSD for veterans and all Texans. Roland pushed the state to provide resources to survivors of sexual assault by creating a crisis call center that provides emotional and legal support. Roland also pioneered the Farmer Suicide Prevention Hotline to address the mental health needs of rural Texans, which has saved 60 lives and counting.

Sam Brown: Competition--not government--drives medical innovations

Politicians have allowed bureaucrats to write healthcare laws, like Obamacare, that flood the marketplace with regulations--starving it of options--while driving up costs and lowering access to quality coverage. Competition--not government--drives medical innovations that lead to better care and lower costs. Without burdensome government intervention, the marketplace and patients will be the driving force that solve the problems within our healthcare system.

Andy Kim: Expand Medicare: cover vision, hearing, and dental benefits

Marc Carmichael: Lower drugs costs; push for Medicare for all

Will work to lower drug costs and bring adequate medical care to all parts of Indiana and will push for Medicare for all citizens. [OnTheIssues explanation (from HHS.gov): Current eligibility for Medicare includes all citizens over 65 years old; or younger citizens who have disabilities or specified serious diseases. The result of "Medicare for all" would be to expand the Medicare program instead of private health insurance or other government programs].

Tammy Murphy: Expand Medicaid coverage for women a year after childbirth

Tammy Murphy was also instrumental in making New Jersey the 2nd state in the nation to expand Medicaid coverage for women a full year after childbirth--guaranteeing health care for nearly 9,000 mothers across the state.

Mike Katz: Ensure universal access to quality affordable healthcare

Dr. Mike Katz is steadfast in his commitment to ensuring universal access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, regardless of zip code. His plan requires a paradigm shift in the focus of America's health system--from treating illness to preventing it by advocating healthy behaviors and lifestyles, starting from the prenatal and early childhood years. Additionally, he emphasizes the critical integration of mental health into health and secondary education systems, recognizing its significance in promoting the well-being of both children and adults.

Dr. Mike possesses the medical, business, and policy knowledge, experience, and upstream leadership skills necessary to guide the U.S. Senate and Congress in establishing a health system focused on coordinated population and community health. Such a system will provide high-quality, affordable healthcare for every citizen, integrating not-for-profit, academic, and for-profit systems to enhance consumer choice and operational efficiencies.

Scott Parkinson: Against Leftist radicals' plan to end Medicare as we know it

Scott will be a warrior for the middle class, honing in on the fiscal insanity in Washington, championing economic growth policies, defending parental rights in education, and restoring public safety on our streets. Scott will fight for parents' rights, veterans' benefits against the bureaucracy, and senior citizens against Leftist radicals that want to end Medicare as we know it.

Angela Alsobrooks: Expand Medicaid, pass Medicare buy-in option

She believes it's time for Congress to act to expand Medicaid for millions of Americans that should be covered by the ACA Medicaid expansion but live in the 10 states whose Republican legislators refuse to expand coverage in their states. Angela also believes it's time to pass a Medicare buy-in option and apply ACA subsidies to the plan to ensure all Americans have access regardless of their income.

Eric Hansen: Allow Medicare/Medicaid to negotiate price of drugs

We must allow Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate the price of prescription drugs, saving seniors money. I will lower the cost of health care by allowing insurance to be purchased from out-of-state providers that provide you with more choice and lower insurance costs. We will also offer longer patents to pharmaceutical companies that keep prescription drugs prices low. We will increase federal incentives to bring pharmaceutical drug jobs and manufacturing back to the U.S. and back to Delaware.

Eric Hovde: The ACA has failed to live up to its expectation

Our healthcare system is deeply flawed and in need of reform. Over the last decade, quality of care has decreased, and insurance premiums have doubled, in some cases tripled. This is largely a result of the failures of Obamacare. Initially promised to be a groundbreaking reform aimed at providing affordable care for all, the ACA has failed to live up to its expectation. Instead of a decrease in healthcare costs, Americans have experienced a sharp increase in insurance premiums.

Josh Eisen: Medicare-for-all is unrealistic and un-American

People should have choice in healthcare. At the same time, healthcare is a human right and the government must ensure that all American can access healthcare. Medicare-for-all is unrealistic and un-American. We must incentivize healthy living because healthy citizens give more and take less from the government.

Hung Cao: Americans are unaware of medications now unavailable

Rationing has no place in our society, yet it is happening under the cover of darkness. Most Americans are unaware several types of medication including antibiotics, cancer therapy, and pain medication are now unavailable at their local pharmacy. We must reevaluate our dependence on raw ingredients specifically from China and India which are vital to the manufacturing of prescription drugs. Doctors are now rationing drugs because they have become unavailable or are in short supply.

Caroline Gleich: Ensure affordable and quality healthcare for all

Glenn Elliott: Expand Medicaid; bring down prescription drug costs

The mountains of West Virginia should echo with the sound of prosperity, not the despair of those who cannot afford their medical bills. Our state, beloved yet troubled by health disparities, demands a champion who will stand up for comprehensive healthcare reform. My mission will be to spearhead policies that expand Medicaid, support rural hospitals, and bring down prescription drug costs. Let's unite to deliver a healthcare system that is as resilient and enduring as the people it serves.

Royce White: Demanded NBA spearhead conversation on mental health

Eventually, his concerns became a public dispute between White and the NBA. This resulted in White demanding that the NBA, as a representative of the global corporate community, take up the responsibility of spearheading the mental health conversation-- not just posturing through press statements, but through policy. This put White at irreconcilable odds with the NBA and also the greater sports community that White now counts as a part of the Media Industrial Complex.

Royce White: COVID vaccine mandates violate religious freedom

I believe that the decisions which govern life and death are made by individual human persons, and that the choice to follow one's faith in God is of at least equal value to following the advice of one's doctor. We are a free people, and I will not forget the globalist COVID-19 power grab attempt to snatch away freedom. Elect me to Senator, and I will be part of the effort to hold those responsible for the COVID-19 deceit accountable.

Ty Pinkins: Supports the expansion of Medicaid in Mississippi

Ty Pinkins believes healthcare is a fundamental human right for which we should always fight. That's why he will work to see that every Mississippian is adequately covered and no family goes broke from paying the expenses of filling a prescription, or urgent medical care. He supports the expansion of Medicaid in Mississippi, which would make an additional 220,000 Mississippians eligible for coverage for vital and life-saving healthcare.

Dan Osborn: Stop handing huge subsidies to super-profitable Big Pharma

Taxpayers have sent Moderna $10 billion in COVID subsidies. The CEO of Moderna made $398 million in 2022. Moderna just more than quadrupled the price of the COVID vaccine. This is madness. Stop handing huge subsidies to super-profitable pharmaceutical companies. In the heat of the pandemic, Congress handed over tens of billions of dollars to Big Pharma. Some of this turned into the vaccine. Much of it turned into CEO pay. I will never support handing huge pharmaceuticals a blank check.

John Deaton: Don’t let ObamaCare tax credits sunset

Quality, affordable health care in America is a necessity and should not be considered out of reach for anyone. Congress must do a better job at reining in administrative costs, but not at the expense of our citizens.
  1. Expand the Premium Tax Credit (PTC) for low-income families. Tax credits implemented under the Affordable Care Act are set to expire in 2025, and it's imperative that Congress has the courage to keep them from sunsetting. This cost-sharing tool allows citizens who seek employment and transition away from Medicaid to maintain support while they adjust to an independent life.
  2. Ban the use of medical debt in credit scoring.
  3. Raise the cap on low-income families eligible for cost sharing reductions (CSRs).
These ideas require bipartisan compromises in order to change America's health care system for the better. As a nonpartisan U.S. Senator, I promise to seek solutions that are not rammed through on party-line votes.
