Brad Wilson: Our coal is significantly cleaner than the coal in China

[On coal]: "We are a western, energy producing state," said Wilson, hyping up his state's coal production. "Our coal is significantly cleaner than the coal in China, yet we're being told to shut that down while we're watching China and other countries make the air dirtier and dirtier at our expense," he explained. "Utahns are fed up with this and I don't blame them."

Trent Staggs: No American should accept the crippling of domestic energy

If the government got out of the way, we wouldn't need to import oil from the Middle East.

No American anywhere should accept the crippling of domestic energy that we've seen since 2021 -- certainly not in the name of hysterical environmentalism. Environmental stewardship is important, but destroying our way of life is not. I'm a firm believer that technological advances have benefited mankind and the environment in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.

John Curtis: 2021: Founded the Conservative Climate Caucus

Curtis' main focus in the Senate will be, as it has been in the House, spearheading a conservative approach to climate policy that incorporates fossil fuels and nuclear energy into an affordable, reliable and clean energy transition. "I feel like I have developed an expertise that, to be honest, is unmatched in the House, and that, in many ways, I'm the go-to person on energy and climate policy for the Republicans," Curtis said. "That clearly is something that I will want to continue working on."

Curtis knows better than most how discussions of climate change and energy transitions can be met with skepticism from some conservatives. But Curtis said the more his constituents learn about what he's doing, the more they agree with him. "As they understand that I'm offering solutions for conservatives that don't ask them to give up their conservative values, I find great support," Curtis said.

Caroline Gleich: Supports transition to clean, renewable energy sources

Caroline is dedicated to robust environmental protection. She advocates for sustainable practices, clean energy initiatives, and the implementation of carbon capture technologies. Recognizing the urgency of addressing climate change, Caroline supports the acceleration of Utah's transition to clean, renewable energy sources. Her focus includes promoting energy efficiency measures, encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, and enhancing public transportation infrastructure.

Caroline Gleich: Reduce or eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels

Gleich hopes to 'reintegrate' the electrical grid, which would address the intermittency of renewable power sources. "(Reintegrating the grid) will also help us as we get more solar sources and our houses become more electrified, and it will help communities keep up with increased electrical loads. Connecting these transmission lines between states is something only the federal government can do."

In addition to reintegrating the electrical grid, Gleich would also prioritize reducing federal subsidies as part of her climate action plan. "The government is providing fossil fuel subsidies and Utahns and average Americans are paying the consequences with its impacts of the pollution of burning fossil fuels," said Gleich.

"The air quality and public health impacts of air pollution are disproportionately felt by marginalized communities. And so by reducing those subsidies or eliminating them, we can really help to level the playing the playing field between renewable energy and fossil fuels."
