Phil Scott in 2024 VT Governor's race

On Foreign Policy: Ukraine's fight is too important for us to sit out

Scott signed H.717, An act relating to providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine. "We are here today to send a message to the people of Ukraine and to the tyrant in Russia: We stand united with Ukraine--for its freedom, and with its people," Governor Scott said in his remarks. "The fact is, Ukraine's fight to protect their people, their rights and their land--and what that means for democracies across the globe--is too important for us to sit out. We must do our part."

On Homeland Security: Honor the heroic American veterans

Today, we honor the heroic Americans who served our country and recognize their unwavering sense of duty, dedication, and service to a cause greater than themselves. We all enjoy the freedoms that make the United States the envy of the world because of their commitment to serve each of us.

Vermonters have a long and proud history of service to our nation and to the cause of freedom and we will forever be in their debt.

On Immigration: Moral obligation to be welcoming of people around the globe

I have always believed that the United States, and Vermont, have a moral obligation to be welcoming of people around the globe seeking a better life and new opportunities.

Once we welcome new Vermonters to our communities, it's critical that they are supported and welcomed with open arms.

The opening of the new office for the Vermont Afghan Alliance is a critical step towards creating a sense of community and a place to come together.
