I see America's entrepreneurial spirit waning. I will work to rejuvenate it in Congress and with our Governor and Legislation to promote business and innovation, not stifle it. I have visited hundreds of Vermont businesses, the common theme I heard is 'reduce government regulation'--I will.
A: It's about jobs. It's about safety. I think people want peace on earth. I pledge I'll visit every one of the 14 counties in Vermont at least once a year and I'll stay there 2 or 3 hours for a town hall and I'll listen and I'll actually act on the issues that are important Vermonters. It's absolutely not happening in Vermont right now. Now there's war in the Middle East. There's war in Europe. I've served in the Middle East. I've served in Europe. I've served in Asia. I've served in the Persian Gulf. I'm going to take all that experience and try to promote peace on earth, which, you know, for instance, last year, I talked about our government continuing to make deals supporting Iran. That's gone bad. You know, they're supporting terrorists. So you know, there's one thing I would look to do for the people of Vermont and the people of America.
A: I am seeking to serve Vermonters, Vermont, and the United States of America. I am deeply concerned with the direction our Country is going and I have the character, experience, leadership and performance to change the course for a better future.
Q: Background?
A: I served 22 years on active duty in the Army worldwide. I have served in government positions and for 16 years as a defense contractor supporting our military. I have been successful in highly competitive business environments, growing jobs for technology and services businesses. I have an MBA from Temple University, a graduate certificate from Georgetown University and completed the Army Command and General Staff College. I have worked with 20+ allies in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf; extensively across US Federal/State/Local Government agencies; and for small and large businesses including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Bowhead (an Alaska Native Corporation).
A: I will support the US achieving food, energy, and critical technology independence-- this will enable the United States to maintain a strong economy AND achieve abilities to transition to renewables AND lower gas/heating/cooling costs.
A: I would support a Constitutional amendment regarding term limits. Voters can implement 'term limits' every time they vote. Part of the solution to career politicians is campaign finance reform.
Q: What do you think of the filibuster?
A: The filibuster is a last line of defense to ensure common sense prevails. It is a beneficial aspect of our governance that works for both sides.
A: Being a good father and husband and Christian. Service to my Country. Service as a Senator that produced results to restore safety, a strong economy, and unity.
Q: What characteristics are most important for an elected official?
A: Character; Duty, honor, country.
Q: What qualities would make you a successful officeholder?
A: Character; Duty, Honor, Country values. I believe in the US Constitution and one Nation under God.
A: I will support States rights under the 10th Amendment. I will not support federal legislation on powers relegated to the States, this includes sweeping federal legislation related to abortion.
