2024 WA Governor's race: on Health Care

Semi Bird: No child will undergo a "gender affirmation" surgery

When I'm Governor of Washington, no child will be able to undergo a "gender affirmation" surgery. You can't get a tattoo without parental consent before you're 18, but apparently you are mature enough to make lifelong changes to your body. In some states, they're doing these surgeries on TODDLERS now. When I'm Governor, that ends immediately.

Bob Ferguson: Defended the Affordable Care Act from legal attack

Bob successfully defended the Affordable Care Act from the legal attack from the Trump Administration and Republican attorneys general. His Supreme Court victory preserved health care for 825,000 Washingtonians, including those with preexisting conditions. It also prevented painful increases in prescription drug costs for Washington seniors.Bob then wrote and passed legislation that guaranteed 4 million Washingtonians access to free and reduced-cost hospital care.

Hilary Franz: I'll work to lower the Medicare age & expand benefits

Franz: It's crucial that everyone has affordable and available medical care. That's why I'll work to lower the Medicare age, expand vision, dental and hearing benefits to traditional Medicare, and expand Medicare drug negotiation. I'll also push for full Medicare reimbursement--preventing hospital closures and allowing doctors to spend more time with patients, not on paperwork. I'll also work to boost funding for community clinics, especially for mental health and addiction services.

Mark Mullet: Supports opting out of state long-term care program

The Northwest Progressive Institute is blasting state Sen. Mark Mullet over his decision to officially endorse Initiative 2124, which would make participation in the WA Cares program voluntary. The voter's pamphlet argument for I-2124 that Mullet helped craft, reads in part, "Washington workers should have the choice over whether their hard-earned money is taking to fund the program. Voting 'yes' makes the payroll tax voluntary and gives workers the choice to remain in or leave the program."
