2024 WV Governor's race: on Health Care

Mac Warner: No to transgender medical procedures mutilating children

Here in West Virginia, we know what a woman is, and we don't want boys playing on girls' sports teams. In one of the most egregious and dangerous examples, we certainly do not want transgender medical procedures mutilating children as young as 10 years old occurring in our state.

Steve Williams: If you're an American, you are entitled to health care

If you're a West Virginian, and if you're an American, you are entitled to health care. Period. Done. Now, what I've seen here in Huntington--it's interesting to have seen just how having health care providers, who have the ability to go in as detectives and not just see somebody who's sick, and then finding a way to try to fix it, but having that patient you're doing testing to be able to identify what can we prevent. And I think prevention is the key.

Mac Warner: No person should be compelled to take a vaccination

Q: HEALTHCARE: Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

A: No person should be compelled to take a vaccination. Certain government jobs, like those undergoing military deployments, may require immunizations. Such workers should be able to decline such deployment. There must always be a religious exemption.

Q: What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

A: Option C.
