Don Blankenship: COVID pandemic: government-created crisis from China Virus

Our government loves to create crises and then claim they will save us from those crises. They currently want us to see them as "our compassionate saviors" as they rush to return a small portion of our taxes to us as we suffer from a deadly pandemic caused by the "China Virus". Our government is unable to give Americans the medicines they need and instead they are attempting to placate us with a little money.

The virus has caused politicians to suddenly realize that our medicines come from China. Our Senators are now telling us they are anxious to fix that crisis for us as well. It does not even dawn on them that they created the crisis. Politicians who for years have called China a "key trading partner" are now calling China a "liar", a "propagandist".

Our most expensive import from China this year will be a "coronavirus". The cost of this virus to Americans, just this year, will be greater than all the money we will receive for all the products we will export to China this decade.

The mountains of West Virginia should echo with the sound of prosperity, not the despair of those who cannot afford their medical bills. Our state, beloved yet troubled by health disparities, demands a champion who will stand up for comprehensive healthcare reform. My mission will be to spearhead policies that expand Medicaid, support rural hospitals, and bring down prescription drug costs. Let's unite to deliver a healthcare system that is as resilient and enduring as the people it serves.

Glenn Elliott: Why do we make severely ill use Go Fund Me?

I believe that health care is a right, not a privilege. How many of us know someone who has turned to the internet for help for healthcare costs? It's 2024, we live in the richest country in the world, but getting severely ill for some us means entering the Go Fund Me society. If elected to the United States Senate, I will prioritize fixing our healthcare system and make Go Fund Me pleas a thing of the past.
