2024 WY Senate race: on Health Care

John Barrasso: Protect Medicaid Act: don't fund noncitizens

Senator Barrasso joined [4 other Republican Senators] in introducing legislation to ensure taxpayer dollars are not used to subsidize Medicaid benefits for illegal immigrants. The Protect Medicaid Act prohibits federal money from being spent on administering state Medicaid benefits paid for by American citizens to noncitizens. If a state chooses to give Medicaid benefits to illegal residents, the bill will ensure it is entirely on the state's dime, without costs to taxpayers in other states.

"President Biden and the Democrats want to offer incentive after incentive for illegal immigrants to cross our southern border," said Sen. Barrasso. "American taxpayers should never foot the bill for Biden's handouts to those who break the law. Our bill stops liberal states from abusing Medicaid and using the money of hardworking Americans on illegal immigrants. Republicans will continue to fight against radical policies that fail to secure our border and keep the homeland safe."

Reid Rasner: Allow importing drugs from Canada to keep Rx costs down

In these times of economic uncertainty and inflation, one key area where we can make a tangible difference in the lives of Americans is by tackling the rising costs of prescription drugs. That's why I strongly advocate for lower-cost prescriptions.

As inflation continues to impact families across the country, the burden of high prescription drug prices is particularly felt by those who can least afford it. Importing lower-cost prescriptions from Canada is a common-sense solution that aligns with our core Republican values of free-market principles & prioritizing the needs of the American people.

It's disheartening to note that my opponent, John Barrasso, voted against such a measure in 2017. At a time when Americans were grappling with increasing healthcare costs, Barrasso's decision was a missed opportunity to stand up for the hardworking citizens he represents. Instead of supporting a policy that would have eased the financial burden on American families, he opted to maintain the status quo.

Scott Morrow: Supports single-payer, plus regulated Rx drug costs

Q: Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?

A: Yes.

Q: Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)?

A: Yes.

Q: Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs?

A: Yes. Let's include child care in the mix. Medicare and VA, both kind of government run programs, use around 2-3 % for administrative expense compared to up to 30% used by the convicted felon health insurance folks. Medicare is mostly privatized at this point with the mostly scam Medicare Advantage programs run by private parties. VA is becoming more privatized each day, so to call them government run programs is simply not accurate.
