Debbie Dingell: Quality and affordable public education including pre-K

For me, education from the time a child is born through graduation is a top priority. Early childhood education and experiences are critical to give every young person a foundation for life. We must provide the opportunity for Pre-K education for all children. We must fund K-12 public education in ways that that offer the rigorous coursework necessary to prepare students to pursue higher education.

Gretchen Whitmer: More funding for teachers, school buildings, & Head Start

Whitmer supports the following principles regarding education.
• Support national standards and testing of public school students.
• Increase state funds for school capital improvements (e.g. buildings and infrastructure).
• Increase state funds for hiring additional teachers.
• Provide state funding to increase teacher salaries.
• Increase funding for Head Start programs.
• Provide state funding for tax incentives and financial aid to help make college more affordable.
