On Education: Fight the imposition of Common Core standards & mandates

On Energy & Oil: All-of-the-above strategy including Keystone XL

As your member of Congress I would pursue the following fiscal priorities:
• Advance an "All of the Above" energy strategy that promotes new and innovative technology while at the same time opening up more federal lands to energy exploration and development. This will create countless new high paying jobs to grow our economy, send dollars to the treasury and stop shipping our wealth overseas to nations which are not friendly to America's interests.
• Support permitting the Keystone XL Pipeline.
• Stop using taxpayer money for crony capitalism that allows the government to pick winners and losers in the economy. Let the free market choose the best ideas and innovations to build our economy.

On Environment: Don't regulate waters; do regulate sugar

• Provide needed oversight to ensure the fair implementation of the Farm Bill.
• Support the continuation of the national sugar program which allows this vital industry to continue at no cost to the American taxpayer.
• Oppose and repeal any efforts by the EPA to put in place the Waters of the United States regulatory overreach that would place onerous restrictions with little to no benefit for our nation's waters.

On Foreign Policy: Restore America to her rightful place of world leadership

As your member of Congress these would be my priorities in restoring America to her rightful place of leadership in the world:
• Will support the members of our NATO alliance such as Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia which are on the front lines facing aggression from Putin's Russia.
• I would support the expansion of our alliance in NATO to include friendly Balkan countries of Macedonia and Montenegro.
• While keeping America's commitments to our NATO allies, I would also demand that they fulfill their commitments under the Alliance's Charter to adequately fund their own defense.
• Promote tough engagement with Vladimir Putin's Russia in the effort to deter further aggression.

On Gun Control: Support the Second Amendment and the First Amendment

I believe in:
• Every American's right under the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms.
• The freedom of speech, religion, the press, to peaceably assemble and to redress grievances before government guaranteed by the First Amendment.

On Homeland Security: Cut government bloat elsewhere to build military

• Fight to reverse the Obama administration cuts to our military by finding savings elsewhere in the budget--we will start by cutting government bloat.
• Work to support and advance the role of the National Guard in defending our freedom including protecting the A-10 mission flown by the 107th Fighter Squadron flown by the Michigan Air National Guard based at Selfridge.
• Will support every effort to make certain that our troops have the best training and best equipment so that they can remain the most lethal fighting force in the world.
• I will support the growth of the "Defense Corridor" in our district.
• Our veterans earn their benefits through service and we need to live up to our commitment and deliver those benefits to them. I will work day and night to ensure that our benefits get the care they need and deserve.

On Immigration: Serious & measurable steps to finally secure southern border

• We must improve our border control and protection systems to address risks from travel to and from other countries.
• We must secure our border, and I will not support any reform to our system of immigration unless serious and measurable steps are taken to finally secure our borders.
• We are a nation of laws and I will oppose any bill that gives a special path to citizenship for those who have entered our nation illegally.
• I will be a forceful advocate for security that recognizes our Northern border faces a different set of threats than our southern border.
• I will support efforts that help our intelligence and law enforcement agencies identify and track down terrorists before they strike while also protecting citizens' Constitutional rights.
• Develop guest worker and e-verify programs that allow our nation's farmers to meet their labor needs while at the same time defending our borders.

On Social Security: Protect and preserve the promises we made to our seniors

As your member of Congress I would pursue the following fiscal priorities:
• Take steps to protect and preserve Social Security and Medicare so the promises we made to our seniors, and they paid for, can be honored so that they can count on a secure retirement.
• Work to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in our social welfare system which have exploded under the Obama administration and have driven costs ever higher.
• Pass and enforce work requirements for welfare programs that help instill the dignity of work and receiving a paycheck while breaking the cycle of dependence on the government.

On Tax Reform: Eliminate the Death Tax; simplify the tax code

• Support pro-growth individual and corporate tax reform that eliminates special interest tax deductions for those with the right connections or best lobbyists so that we can reduce rates and simplify the tax code for every American taxpayer.
• Make America's tax system competitive with other developed nations in the world. Encourage U.S. based corporations to bring foreign earnings into the U.S. by eliminating "double taxation" of those earnings.
• This reform would simplify the tax code, take power away from the IRS, and reduce the size and cost of the IRS.
• Support the elimination of the "Death Tax" which forces too many of our family farmers to sell after the death of a loved one simply to pay the tax bill.

On War & Peace: Peace thru strength: defend our vital national interests

No decision is more important than whether to send our armed forces into combat and I will only support doing so if it is demonstrated that our vital national interests, or those of our allies, are at clear risk.

On War & Peace: Support Israel; ally against China; no Iranian nukes

As your member of Congress these would be my priorities [in foreign policy]:
• Will offer my full support to Israel, America's strongest ally and the only true democracy in the Middle East.
• I will oppose any agreement with Iran that allows it to stand at the precipice of a nuclear weapon which would destabilize the Middle East and threaten the destruction of Israel.
