State of Minnesota secondary Archives: on Health Care

Chris Coleman: More access to appropriate treatments for mental health

Mental Health Services: Mental health plays a role in everything from poverty to public safety--from education to unemployment and homelessness. It can be difficult for people to access the appropriate treatment at the right time. The Mayor supports the efforts of the Mental Health Legislative Network as well as the nine recommendations from the Governor's Task Force on Mental Health.

Dan Severson: Replace healthcare entitlement with free-market system

Hegseth said his first focus would be to eliminate ObamaCare, something all four candidates want to happen. Severson said that in addition to getting rid of ObamaCare, the government needs to get away from the argument that health care is an entitlement. "If we want a good health-care system, one that is responsive, we need to go to a free market system," Severson said.

Heather Johnson: MnCare was better than ObamaCare

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Expand ObamaCare"?

A: No, ACA in Minnesota has not been better for vulnerable adults who have reported to me on the campaign trail, that the spend down is worse than the previous programs of MnCare and Medical Assistance as well as a lessening in prescribed medical treatments. I believe doctors know better. For Minnesotans, MA and MnCare had an over 93% success rate prior to ACA.

Scott Jensen: Led the fight for an insulin affordability bill

In one of his last acts as a State Senator, Dr. Jensen led the way on an insulin affordability Bill. It was designed to guarantee low-cost insulin for Minnesotans for emergencies and ongoing care. The Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act had languished for more than a year in senseless political gridlock. With Senator Jensen taking the lead, the Bill was brought to the Senate floor after only 28 days. It not only had bi-partisan support, it passed unanimously.
