On Budget & Economy:
Reduce government regulations that smother American business
Mark will work to get government out of the way of our economy. One of his top priorities will be to reduce government regulations that are smothering American businesses.
He will also work to promote a streamlined tax code which will reduce the burden on families and corporations, which will encourage economic growth.
In addition, he will work to put an end to wasteful spending and get the national debt back under control. Our ballooning debt is hazardous to our economy and to our national security, and the spending spree must come to an end.
Mark will support a constitutional amendment requiring our national budget to be balanced.

On Education:
Oppose Common Core; empower families through vouchers
Mark Walker is opposed to Common Core, which is an attempt by the Obama Administration to exert more control over public education at the expense of local control.
Our children deserve a world-class education, but the federal government's continued interference has kept us from achieving this goal.
Education has traditionally been best dealt with at the local level, and Mark will work to restore state and local power over education.
He will also push for legislation which will empower families by allowing them to exercise educational choice through vouchers which will let funding follow the child to the school of their family's choice.

On Energy & Oil:
Much "so-called" science of climate change is contested
Climate change has become a political football and the secular left has used it to drive through restricting regulations that have damaged our economy. We can be green without being extreme. Much of the "so-called" science of climate change is
contested though it's made a few politicians quite wealthy. I believe that God provided the earth to us and we have a responsibility to conserve and respect the environment. When companies damage or abuse our environment, they should be held accountable.

On Foreign Policy:
End foreign aid to nations that abhor our heritage
The American people are the most generous in the world. However, the federal government gives billions to nations that reject our values and abhor our heritage. These dollars should be reserved for people in need--refugees, widows, and orphans--
and countries that share our commitment to democracy, like Israel. We could save tax payers billions and promote freedom worldwide if the federal government was more discerning in its foreign aid.

On Health Care:
Repeal ObamaCare; implement market-based solutions
ObamaCare should be repealed, and Mark will make doing so one of his top legislative priorities. Instead of mandating health insurance, we should focus on market-based solutions--including tort reform
and enabling plans to be sold across state lines--which will help bring the cost of healthcare down without creating additional bureaucracy or increasing the national debt.

On Immigration:
Opposed to all forms of amnesty; close porous borders
Mark is opposed to all forms of immigration amnesty. The immigration system is broken, and we must fix it. Our first priority must be to secure our porous borders; without secure borders, reforms will have no effect.Once we have made progress on
border security, we can implement reforms to guest worker programs and the current citizenship process to ensure that those who are patiently waiting in line and following the law are able to enter legally and serve as productive members of our society.

On Principles & Values:
A record of being both a conservative and a bridge builder
Walker said in the interview, "We have an established record of being both a conservative and a bridge builder.""I think that's something that's easy to be able to identify with the work that we've done,
both for our people who believe in the ideology of limited government, but never getting past the place that we forgot about all of the communities that I represent."

On Tax Reform:
Replace broken tax code with flat tax and FairTax models
We must reduce the tax burden on working Americans. In 2008, President Obama stated that he would not raise taxes on the middle class. Yet, due to the increase in payroll taxes (as well as the new ObamaCare premiums, taxes and penalties)
paychecks are shrinking while many personal exemptions and deductions appear to be dangerously close to extinction.
It is time for tax reform through a radical change in our current tax code. This administration has added thousands of pages to a tax code that is broken, misused and manipulated.
The flat tax and fair tax models are much better models and could be implemented whereby all Americans share some responsibility. We will not dig ourselves out overnight, but we must start overhauling the current system now.
