On Crime: Thank a law enforcement officer in your community

Standing with Our Men and Women in Blue: When was the last time you thanked a law enforcement officer in your community? Our men and women in blue put their lives on the line each day to ensure the safety of our families and the security of our communities. They stand against violence and do their best to prevent possible threats that may cause harm to our families, friends and neighbors. They go to work each day, unable to predict the potential dangers that may be thrown their way at any moment. Their admirable bravery and selfless dedication are traits that we should all strive to mirror in our own lives.

The fact that many men and women in uniform have been violently targeted recently is inexcusable. As Americans, we must take a collective stand in honoring our law enforcement professionals. I will always be grateful for these heroes and their devotion to making our state a safer place. How about you? Will you stand with me?

On Government Reform: Constitutional amendment for term limits

A New Amendment for Our Constitution: I have signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge to vote for a term limits constitutional amendment.

America's confidence in the federal government has eroded to the point that it is nearly non-existent. Restoring the nation to a true citizen-legislature where members of all facets of our communities represent their neighbors for a short time then return home to live under the laws they wrote is absolutely necessary to moving our country forward.

Our founders never envisioned a permanent political class, but we have one and it insulates lawmakers from the consequences of their decisions in Washington. Voters don't believe that their representatives 'get it,' and I fear that the professional politicians have even forgotten what 'it' is.

On Gun Control: Concealed carry makes everyone safer except for criminals

Defending Your Second Amendment Right: I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. What makes America different from every other country in the world is a belief at our very core in the freedom of our citizens. We trust our freedoms to the people--not to the government. And we trust our citizens with the responsibilities to make their lives and families and communities stronger, more prosperous and safer.

We do not rely on the government to do it for us and that is a good philosophy, because government is generally terrible at all of those things--at least domestically.

Concealed carry by law-abiding citizens makes everyone safer except for criminals. Where do our freedoms stop? On a college campus? A public street? A restaurant? Americans should be free to protect themselves and their liberties wherever they go.

On Homeland Security: Released Gitmo detainees behind various attacks against US

The Truth About Gitmo: It's believed that about a dozen detainees released from the detention center in Guantanamo Bay are behind various attacks against the United States or our allied forces in Afghanistan. The result? The loss of six American lives.

Why haven't we heard of this previously? Because all of the information involving the released detainees has been classified. President Obama is keeping information from Congress and from the American people. We deserve the FULL truth from the White House when our national security is at risk. Upon their release, these dangerous terrorists are not likely to simply fade into the background of society. They aren't going to stop killing people just because the administration hopes they will.

We desperately need, and rightfully deserve, new leadership in the White House who will not withhold the truth from the American people. We cannot stand to have our national security at risk, but when it is, we have the right to know.

On Homeland Security: Imperative for our military to be at full troop strength

Strengthening Our Military: Our world is filled with threats. That's why now, more than ever before, it is imperative for our military to be at full troop strength. There is no way to predict what risks the future may hold, so we must be fully prepared and fully equipped to face our enemies at a moment's notice--whenever and wherever that might be.

The U.S. Army is currently experiencing its lowest number of active-duty soldiers since World War II. This is not due to lack of patriotism, but rather lack of proper funding from Washington.

Today, we face countless dangers that threaten American safety and the ability to defend our homeland. We must work to strengthen our military--NOT weaken it. Downsizing is the LAST thing that we need do! We have the best military in the world, but we can only keep it that way if the men and women of our armed forces are given the resources and equipment required to do the job. Adequate funding must be a priority. There is no national security without it.

On Immigration: We CANNOT allow this flow of unvetted refugees to continue

Just ANOTHER Refugee? President Obama continues to go out of his way to get more and more Syrian refugees into the United States. Tens of thousands of refugees that we know NOTHING about. We could easily be letting in dangerous individuals who pose an immediate threat to our national security.

Well, enough is enough. We CANNOT allow this flow of unvetted refugees to continue. Their entry into our country not only threatens our national security, but it also stands to pose a direct threat to the safety of each and every American. Our families and communities stand to be at risk.

We must secure our borders and increase our national security NOW, not after something bad happens. The LAST thing we need in our country is additional unvetted refugees from terror hot spots around the world.

Ferguson: Very Conservative

On Tax Reform: I support a flat tax--all have skin in the game

Implementing a Flat Tax: I support a flat tax for several reasons. Many of the tax proposals floating around in Republican circles are variations on the FAIR Tax which is, essentially, a value-added or "VAT" tax. This would be well and good if we did not live in a global economy but we do. By taxing goods at every level from wages to raw materials to marketing to transportation, we would quickly price American goods out of the reach of the world marketplace.

A flat tax is fair--because everyone pays the same rate. It does not punish hard work nor does it reward dependence on taxpayer largess. It is simple. It would allow for the elimination of loopholes and deductions that keep lawyers and government bureaucrats and the IRS from skimming off our national productivity.

I believe it is important for all Americans to have skin in the game. There is no economic incentive to work hard if we make it possible for people to simply vote to take money from others for themselves.

On War & Peace: Distrust ill-conceived nuclear "deal" with Iran

After the ill-conceived nuclear "deal" with Iran was negotiated (if that is the right word) by Secretary of State John Kerry, Iran's economy was and is expected to grow quickly (unlike ours).

For starters, as part of that nuclear "deal," the sanctions against Iran were lifted at the beginning of this year. Also the United States paid Iran the one-and-half-billion (yes, with a "b") dollars we "owed" them. But with the nuclear "deal" in place, we can rest comfortably. Of course, Iran will keep its word and follow the letter of the law in the agreement it signed.Wait-and-see? How long should we wait? Why would be would expect to see anything different? Iran cannot be trusted. Period.

On War & Peace: Radical Islam will always be an enemy to the world

In my opinion, all terrorists are cowards. When you target the lives of innocent civilians, you merit no mercy. We have seen time and time again that you cannot make deals with terrorists. It is time that our leaders take action and show resolve in response to the recent bombings in Brussels.

The time to act is NOW. Radical Islam will always be an enemy to the world. We cannot sit by idly and wait until terror strikes again. Our loved ones and neighbors could be the next targets. It is up to us.
