On Principles & Values: Qualified to run for Senate because I love America

Walker gave his first public speech since announcing his campaign at Donald Trump's rally in Perry, in central Georgia. The address lasted less than 10 minutes, with Walker leaning heavily on platitudes and nods to his biography. "People always ask me what qualifies me to run for this office," Walker said. "And you know what qualified me to run, is because I love America, and I'm going to fight for America."

At Saturday's rally in Perry, as Trump began to wrap up his lengthy remarks, he asked Walker to come back onstage one more time. With a few additional words, the former president's longtime friend made clear he is aligned with Trump. "I want to be a great leader like him when I get to that Senate seat," Walker said.

On Abortion: Is "strongly pro-life" including conservative judges

Days after the Texas abortion law went into effect [allowing personal lawsuits against abortion clinics], Walker's camp put out a statement saying only that he's "strongly pro-life" and would support constitutional conservatives for judges.

On Abortion: Supports a total abortion ban without any exceptions

In his responses to a survey questionnaire from the Georgia Life Alliance, Walker indicated he supported a total ban on all abortion, without exceptions for rape, incest, or saving the mother's life. "I am 100% pro-life. As Georgia's next senator, I will vote for any legislation which protects the sanctity of human life, even if the legislation is not perfect," he wrote on the questionnaire. "Every human life is valuable and absolutely worth saving."

On Budget & Economy: Best way to help people succeed: don't give them a handout

As a small-town kid who has achieved the American Dream, Herschel knows the best way to help people succeed is not to give them a handout but to teach them how to fish. Herschel has personally seen how when you work hard and stay in the fight, anything is possible. He will fight to keep that same American Dream alive for you and your kids too.

On Civil Rights: Against reparations; it's pandering for votes

[On reparations for slavery]: I'm upset about it because all they're doing is pandering for votes because let me tell you, why are you paying African Americans instead of empowering African-Americans? Who are you going to give the money to? What about the people that freed you as a slave? What about the white people that fought to free you as a slave?

This president has denounced any kind of white supremacist. He's denounced everything but because they don't have anything to fight what he's done for African Americans, they keep using the word racist. And I've said many times this guy's not a racist. President Trump is not a racist. Why don't you guys decide to put a plan together that you can do something to help the African Americans instead of trying to call this president a racist?

On Civil Rights: Son is openly gay and led a Gays for Trump march

Walker's son, Christian, has grabbed his own headlines and stirred his own controversies as a rising right-wing social media star, where he has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers.

He has also appeared on Fox News. The younger Walker, who is openly gay, led a Gays for Trump march in West Hollywood in 2020.

On Crime: FactCheck: Claimed Capitol rioters distracted from fraud

On the afternoon of January 6, Walker tweeted a false suggestion that the Capitol riot was orchestrated by people who wanted to stop the discussion about election fraud. "Have you noticed were not talking about election fraud and election integrity now? Seems like this was well planned to shut everything down and run the clock out," Walker wrote. Walker falsely suggested that these people weren't actually Trump supporters -- calling them "Trojan horses" and saying "they do not look like MAGA."

On Crime: Any mom should be able to go to grocery store and feel safe

I'm fighting for the people of Georgia. I'm fighting for the United States of America and I'm fighting for this Constitution. I'm fighting for law and order. I want my mom. I want any white mom, I want any Asian mom to be able to go to a grocery store and feel safe. And right now, I don't think they can do that.

On Crime: Ex-wife & other women accuse him of making threats

A Texas woman told police in 2002 that Walker had threatened and stalked her, according to a police report. The woman, a friend of Walker's ex-wife, told police that the football star had been following her, and had made "threats to her" and had "her house watched." The report did not specify the nature of the threats. Two other women--Walker's ex-wife and an ex-girlfriend--have accused him of making threats, telling authorities Walker claimed he would shoot them in the head.

On Crime: Defunding the police is a ridiculous idea

Herschel thinks that defunding the police is a ridiculous idea. Crime is out of control in many of our major cities, including Atlanta, because politicians have demoralized, defunded, and undermined the good men and women in uniform who risk their lives every day so that we can be safe. Herschel will fight to fully fund all of our public safety officials by ensuring that they have the staff, equipment, and training needed to keep every neighborhood free from fear.

On Drugs: Criticizes Biden Administration over false crack pipe policy

[TeamHerschel.com press release 2/9/22] "I am deeply disturbed by the news that the Biden Administration is using taxpayer funds to distribute free crack pipes," Herschel said. "To make things worse, they are doing this in the name of 'racial equity'-- and Senator Raphael Warnock has stood by this Administration every step of the way. There is nothing compassionate about enabling people to continue using dangerous and lethal drugs. Instead, we should focus on helping people get treatment and move beyond addiction."

[FactCheck by CNN, 2/17/22]: An article claiming that the Biden administration planned to give away crack pipes to drug addicts went viral, eliciting outrage on the right. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and Dr. Rahul Gupta, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, issued a statement clarifying that "no federal funding will be used directly or through subsequent reimbursement of grantees to put pipes in safe smoking kits."

On Education: Will work with Sen. Tim Scott to promote school choice

SEN. TIM SCOTT: One of the best candidates that we have in the field this year is Herschel Walker.

WALKER: Having your endorsement is no doubt going to help me out a lot. And I want to tell you this here, you know, things you've been doing with the police reform and right now you're doing with the school choice, when I get into Washington, I'm going to be on your side and those are things that I care about as well.

On Education: Removed false claim of being a college graduate from website

Walker's campaign removed a false claim -- which inaccurately said the candidate graduated from the University of Georgia -- from a website for his Senate bid, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported. Walker's campaign deleted the claim, which said that the former football star had "graduated from UGA with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice," after the paper asked about the reference. The inaccurate claim that Walker completed a degree in criminal justice has been made before.

On Energy & Oil: Will fight to make America energy independent once again

Gas and energy prices are skyrocketing as a result of bad Democratic energy policy decisions. If there's one thing we've learned from the past year, America cannot depend on other countries for our essential resources, including energy. Herschel will fight to make America energy independent once again, leading to lower gas prices, more American jobs being brought back from overseas, and stronger national security.

On Energy & Oil: China and Russia not thinking about Green New Deal

His thoughts on energy policy: "They're giving our energy away to people that don't like us" and "China and Russia's not thinking about this Green New Deal." He suggested that Democratic energy policies were the reason for high gas prices and food-supply chain issues.

On Foreign Policy: Friendship for Israel means nixing event over swastika

Walker called off a fundraiser in Texas because an organizer was displaying a swastika made of syringes in her social media profile to protest mandatory COVID-19 vaccination. "Herschel is a strong friend of Israel and the Jewish community and opposes hatred and bigotry of all forms," a campaign spokesperson said.

On Government Reform: Opposed certifying Biden's Georgia victory, claims fraud

In a tweet Walker falsely alleged that there was "Country wide election fraud." Walker called for Trump and "TRUE PATRIOTS" to conduct a "total cleansing" and continued, "Let's get back to real Law & Order and prosecute all the bad actors. Whatever it takes to get the job done." Walker said that Georgia should refuse to certify Biden's victory there because of "serious Election Fraud," asking in a video "how can we certify something that we know is not right."

On Government Reform: He will fight for lower taxes, fewer government regulations

After a 15-year professional football career, Herschel decided to build his own business from the ground up. What started as a small operation has grown to be one of the largest minority-owned food suppliers in the United States. He knows firsthand the struggles of owning a business, balancing a budget, and dealing with government red tape. He will fight for lower taxes, fewer government regulations, and more free-market capitalism.

On Gun Control: Confirm judges who will protect our right to bear arms

Too often, politicians make promises on the campaign trail and then abandon them once in office. Herschel is not a politician, and you can count on him to stand up for our rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Herschel will vote to confirm Constitutional judges to our courts who will protect our right to bear arms, to ask questions, and to make our own decisions for our families.

On Homeland Security: I believe in smaller government & a strong military

[campaign video] I'm a conservative not because someone told me to be. I'm a conservative because I believe in smaller government, a strong military, personal responsibility and making sure all people have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. That's an America worth fighting for. My name Herschel Walker and I'm running for the United States Senate. I'm a kid from a small town in Georgia who's lived the American dream.

On Homeland Security: Invest heavily in our military to ensure we have the best

Herschel has seen firsthand the tremendous sacrifices that our men and women in uniform make and will always put American interests first at home and abroad. He believes that we must invest heavily in our military to ensure we have the best personnel and equipment, can never negotiate with terrorists, and should never leave any American behind.

On Immigration: For path to citizenship in 2015, now only "a strong border"

On immigration, he's spoken frequently on Fox News about the need for "a strong border." But when asked this week about a 2015 interview when he also supported a path to citizenship for immigrants in the country illegally, his team pivoted back to the "strong border" concept without addressing the larger policy question.

On Immigration: Secure our southern border, fix the immigration problem

The border crisis isn't just a border state problem, it is a Georgia problem that is bringing drugs, crime, and human trafficking to our state. While Herschel is fully supportive of those who follow the legal immigration process, he believes that our leaders have a Constitutional obligation to secure America's borders and keep Americans safe. Herschel will work to secure our southern border and fix the immigration problem, which Washington politicians have failed to address for decades.

On Principles & Values: Born in Wrightsville; going to die a Jesus Christ death

[On residency]: "Someone was telling me that I'm not from Georgia," Walker said. Questions recently swirled recently due to the fact that the football legend has lived in the same house near Dallas, Texas, for the last 10 years and has declared it his "homestead" for tax purposes. "It's funny because I said guys, I was Wrightsville born and I was Georgia bred and I'm going to die a Jesus Christ death," Walker said.

On Principles & Values: If you don't like this country, you don't have to stay here

On the sports aspect of it, you know it is sad and I think it will continue to go down unless we can remove that political side out of sports. I think what we got to do is because we're the greatest country in the world and we do have the right to protest but I think it's a wrong place

If you don't like this country this country is so great that you don't have to stay here. This country's so great, you don't have to stay. But the thing is this is the United States of America, are we going to start now having everyone else national anthem come in and we're going to have to uphold that national anthem as well and forget about the United States of America national anthem.

On Principles & Values: Love for anthem doesn't preclude caring for social justice

He argued that Trump's opposition to protests in sports did not lessen his commitment to social justice issues. "Just because someone loves and respects the flag, our National Anthem, and our country doesn't mean they don't care about social justice. I care about all of those things, and so does Donald Trump," Walker said. "He shows how much he cares about social justice and the Black community through his actions. And his actions speak louder than any stickers or slogans on a jersey."

On Principles & Values: Putting Georgia and Georgians first

Putting Georgia and Georgians first: Herschel loves Georgia and wants to give back to the state that has given him so much. Georgia's strong agriculture, tourism, film production, and manufacturing industries, along with the booming Savannah Port, have helped make Georgia the number one state for business. Herschel will fight every day in the Senate for policies that keep Georgia leading the way with job creation, lower taxes, and less government red tape.

On Principles & Values: With God's help will bring conservative value to Washington

As a Christian, a father, and a husband, Herschel knows that strong families are the bedrock of our country. Herschel's upbringing in rural Georgia instilled a personal faith in God, which he carries with him to this day. He prays every day for this country, and with God's help will bring those values with him to Washington. Herschel is a compassionate conservative who is pro-life and pro-family.

On Principles & Values: Country wide election fraud in 2020 election

In a tweet on January 6, 2021, after the Capitol was attacked by pro-Trump rioters, Walker said he wanted Trump to get to the bottom of "who stole this election."

In late 2020 and early 2021, Walker falsely declared he could "guarantee you" that Biden "didn't get 50 million people voting for him" (in fact, more than 81 million people voted for Biden), promoted a baseless conspiracy theory about Dominion Voting Systems technology and another conspiracy theory about imaginary vote-stealing software, said Georgia should refuse to certify Biden's victory Georgia victory because of "serious Election Fraud," wrongly alleged "Country wide election fraud," and proposed that all votes in Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin be tossed out and that these seven states--six of which were won by Biden--"vote again."
