Adam Laxalt: Enforce current laws; no new laws to fight sexual harassment

Q: Does the government need to take additional steps to fight workplace sexual misconduct?

A: We have measures in place that address this and I strongly support those measures. Workplace sexual harassment is unacceptable, and I believe the most important thing government can do in this area is fulfill its obligation to enforce our measures that are designed to protect people in the workplace.

Q: Has the government done enough to address existing sexual misconduct claims against elected officials?

A: Like all Americans, I've been sickened to learn about the instances of sexual misconduct by elected officials. I believe it is the responsibility of each government jurisdiction to take the steps necessary to deter such behavior, protect its citizens, and pursue justice in cases of misconduct that arise. As Governor, I will carefully review what safeguards our state currently has in place and will work to implement any and all reforms that are needed to put an end to this problem.

Amy Klobuchar: Universal childcare will help small businesses

I was thinking of your question about small businesses. The small businesses I talked to, they have trouble getting employees because their employees don't have childcare. We should have universal childcare.

Dean Heller: Catch up on the backlog of untested sexual assault kits

US Senator Dean Heller toured the Washoe County Sheriff's Office crime lab. Heller says it is vital to get caught up on the backlog of untested sexual assault kits in Washoe County. "We're helping survivors," Heller says. "They need to know that we're doing everything we possibly can."

[Opponent Jacky] Rosen shared a similar sentiment, saying law enforcement should have all the necessary resources they need. "When I'm there I'm going to continue to fund them as robustly as necessary," Rosen says.

Ruben Kihuen: Fight to make child care a critical economic issue

Nearly every modern economy offers paid leave to help welcome new members of your family to the world or to heal from injury or sickness.

The average cost of childcare is over $11,000 a year. Most Americans do not have jobs that give them the flexibility [to watch their kids outside of school].

I will fight to stop child care from being relegated to a 'woman's issues' and put it front and center as a critical issue we must address to build an economy that works for all families.

Steve Sisolak: Adequately fund women's health care services

I am committed to adequately funding women's health care. Currently, Nevada ranks last in the nation in the number of women who have a dedicated health care provider. We don't fare much better when it comes to cervical cancer screenings or other forms of family planning. That's going to change. And that's why we'll be allocating 3 million dollars per year to provide more of these lifesaving services statewide.
