After years of laying the groundwork, our technology community, our tech community reached a turning point. New York City is now one of the world's premiere tech hubs, and all those jobs are now here for the people of New York City.The major
new announcements from Amazon and Google show that the world's most innovative companies want to be here, and they want to hire New Yorkers.
Now, we have over 4.5 million jobs in this city, for the first time in history. Unemployment at a record low,
wages rising. Now, all this has happened in a progressive city. All this has happened in a city that made sure there was fairness. So anyone who tells you that there can't be job growth when we ask for fairness--we're going to prove them wrong here in
New York City. This is a city where we expanded paid sick days to half a million more New Yorkers. This is a city where we require businesses to provide a fair workweek to more than 300,000 people. Where we fought and won a $15 minimum wage.

Invest in Port of Anchorage & pedestrian-friendly downtown
Those of you who work downtown have been tip-toeing through the obstacle course of closed streets and sidewalks as we invest in new pedestrian-friendly, ice-free sidewalks. When completed in September, these projects will allow residents and visitors
alike to enjoy our key downtown amenities especially designed for our winter city. Numerous other improvements are underway:- A more inviting Town Square, with better drop-offs for the Performing Arts Center.

Port of Anchorage, which serves 80% of Alaskans and handles 90% of all consumer goods sold north of Cordova.
- To relieve congestion, we’ve stepped up our investment in road, drainage and trail improvements from $30 million five years ago to
$92 million this year.
All this development continues to stimulate the creativity of private developers who are eager to build new housing, retail and office space.

100 times the capacity of the old analog system. At the same time, we’ll expand its functions to serve all of City government--even the more mundane things that influence our quality of life.

No privacy concerns with DNA-like fingerprinting
The opposition to DNA on the theory that it invades privacy, which comes mostly from the ACLU, is no more compelling that the opposition to fingerprinting when it was first introduced.
