The Associated Press: on Immigration
Jim Lamon:
United States should not accept Afghan refugees
The United States should not accept Afghan refugees, including translators and others who helped the American military during the 20-year war, Lamon said, staking out a hardline stance against a group of immigrants that has had widespread
support from both parties. "They should go to countries that are friendly to them and us," Lamon said. "We cannot continue to be the world's refugee camp."

Kim Reynolds:
Migrant children not our problem, different under Trump
Reynolds said she has rejected a federal request to accept migrant children into the state. "This is not our problem," Reynolds said. "This is the president's problem. He's the one that has opened the border and he needs to be responsible for this and
he needs to stop it." Reynolds' stand on accepting immigrant children contrasts with her willingness to accept refugees coming into the United States when then-President Donald Trump raised the issue in 2019.

Todd Young:
Cites support for border wall in re-election announcement
Young has announced that he's seeking reelection to his Indiana seat. Young touted his support of former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence and pointed to his support of Trump's conservative judicial nominees and Trump's push
to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. "I believe I've lived up to my oath and kept my word, but more work remains," Young said.

Francis Suarez:
Connect immigration to employment, declining birth rate
He said his status as the only Hispanic candidate in the GOP race gives him "a lot of credibility" in a conversation about reforming immigration laws, though he was vague about what he'd propose. "I do think that we need to right-size legal
immigration and that it should be connected to our employment rate and our declining birth rate," said Suarez, who has Cuban ancestry. "And I do think we have to do something with those who are undocumented in our country."

Matthew Corey:
We're on the verge of World War III with Biden
Corey was the party's nominee against Murphy before, losing by 20 points in 2018. But he recently told WTNH-TV that he believes this year is different."It's the economy. If you look at what's happening around the state, the affordability, the open
borders, the crime," said Corey, a supporter of former President Trump. "There's no peace around the world right now. We're on the verge of World War III with this president."
Connecticut voters have not elected a Republican to the Senate since 1982.
