The Washington Examiner: on Energy & Oil

Brett Kavanaugh: Favors ethanol & clean energy over fossil fuel

Trump's nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court could be good news for the ethanol industry and clean energy programs where adherence to the law is often challenged. Trump said Kavanaugh has demonstrated his ability to "set aside" political views "to do what the law and Constitution require." This is where Kavanaugh could be good for the ethanol industry, if the regulation goes to the Supreme Court. His previous rulings show that he does not always act in favor of fossil fuel.

Rick Perry: Energy dominance requires more exports of coal, oil & gas

Rick Perry told reporters that the US faces a "good" dilemma in that the nation now produces more oil than it can feasibly get to market. "We are now producing more energy resources than we are able to deliver," Perry said. "It's kind of an interesting dilemma. Good, I guess. If there is such a thing as a good dilemma."

The next step, according to Perry, is to begin working on the pipelines and other infrastructure necessary to get the oil to market. "It's essential that America build the infrastructure to deliver this record supply," he said. The Energy Information Administration recently announced that the US "is now the largest crude oil producer in the world."

Perry explained that it is his job to promote the president's "energy dominance" agenda, including increasing US exports of oil, coal, natural gas, and advanced energy technologies. Exports "are up across the board, whether it's coal, oil, natural gas," Perry said. "And I think we are just getting started."
