On Families & Children: #1 job of governor is to raise family's standard of living

The number one job of a Governor is to raise people's standard of living. For nearly a third of our families, Iowa really isn't working. 381,000 households are struggling to pay their bills because two-thirds of the jobs pay less than $20 an hour. Parents working 2 and 3 low-wage jobs are still scrambling to come up with $900 each month for childcare, to pay the rent or mortgage, to put food on the table and gas in the car.
