When questioned, Trump also argued that the tax would drive the wealthy to shift their assets, the developer dismissed those concerns: "Well, I just think that the booming economy that we create by my plan would keep the money here because it's incentive. They're going to want to be where the action is. They're going to want to be where the good economy is. And they move their money around, hey, including me. You move your money around where the action is, and now it's a real world economy. But this country would be booming. We'd have no debt. It would be unbelievable."
Walsh, who apologized last week after screaming at a constituent during a similar event, was reacting to constituent criticism of the Occupy movement when he let them know how he felt about it, to a mix of applause and boos.
Walsh said that Occupy protesters are "generally spoiled, pampered, unfocused, clueless young people and a smattering of other people who don't understand this country and are advocating anti-American solutions."
When one constituent stood up and pointed out that veterans have participated in the Occupy movement, Walsh brushed it off. "I don't know how many veterans are part of the Occupy protest," he said. "I can't imagine it's many. But anyone who would advocate socialist solutions--they don't understand this country."
No, we are failing, and it's our leadership that's failing, and the American people, if they had the power to make laws in partnership with representative government, they could correct this.
But you can't, since the country is run by corporate America, particularly the military-industrial complex, the medical-industrial complex, and we do nothing about it. Look at this election and it's all money. Follow the money, and you'll find out what you're going to get in the way of leadership.
Those who are critical of capitalism--I call it "savage capitalism"--point out that many people in the middle class and lower middle class are left behind with little to no chance to increase their standard of living. And then there are those like billionaires Bill Gates &Warren Buffet who believe that capitalism should not leave those who are weaker behind. Capitalism, they argue, must have a conscience.
America needs capitalism with a conscience: a system in which every American has a level playing field in which to prosper. Groups such as "Occupy Wall Street" should bring these legitimate grievances into the halls of Congress.
