On Jobs: Let market set minimum wage

Raczkowski said he prefers to see market forces set wages, not the government. "That's the best way to determine what wages should be," he said. "If you let the market run it, wages will go up."

On Free Trade: Reform NAFTA: don't require importing garbage

Raczkowski is bucking many Republicans in his opposition of NAFTA. He wants Congress to remove the section of the agreement that allows countries to sue in international court if a country doesn't want to accept their goods. That requirement means Michigan has to accept Canadian garbage, Raczkowski said. "We're becoming a state that imports garbage and exports jobs. I'm fed up with it," he said.

On Health Care: Patients Rights with limited lawsuit damages

Unlike a House version that passed later, the Senate?s patients' rights bill allows unlimited damages for pain and suffering, a provision Levin says ensures strong patient protection. Raczkowski is uncomfortable with the idea of unlimited damages, but he doesn't agree with Republicans' attempts to cap damages in all cases. "I don't believe that doctors should be sued for every little hangnail. There should be some constraint on frivolous lawsuits."
