On Principles & Values: 2022: Won four counties in Senate primary

A total of 29,532 residents voted Tuesday from among 125,775 registered voters. Democrats sent 15,752 voters to the polls; Republicans had 13,620. While Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Republican, and Anheuser-Busch beer heiress Trudy Busch Valentine, a Democrat, won their respective U.S. Senate primary races, Boone County voters favored two other candidates to replace the retiring Roy Blunt.

Boone County Republicans gave a narrow nod to Vicky Hartzler, who represented the 4th Congressional District before making her Senate bid. Hartzler received 5,693 votes, (42%) in the county, compared to Schmitt's 5,425 (40%). Only one in 10 Boone County GOP voters supported former Gov. Eric Greitens, who finished third statewide.

Boone County Democrats gave Lucas Kunce more than half their support, with 8,167 votes (53%) compared to Busch Valentine's 4,727 (31%). The county was one of four in the state to support Kunce with more than half of its vote share.
