The New York Daily News: on Gun Control

Kathy Hochul: State senate too afraid of NRA to vote on "red flag" bill

Hochul ratcheted up the pressure on the state Senate, claiming legislators were too "afraid" of the NRA to vote on a proposed gun control bill. The bill, dubbed the "red flag" bill, will give teachers, school officials, family members and police officers the right to petition judges if they believe someone who has access to guns is dangerous. "It's a simple common-sense measure that will save the lives of students," Hochul said.

Lisa Murkowski: Oppose reauthorizing the federal assault weapons ban

Q: Would you support the ban on assault weapons?

KNOWLES: No. I opposed reauthorizing the federal assault weapons ban and closing the so-called “gun show loophole.” I am a strong supporter of the entire Bill of Rights, including the Second amendment right to keep and bear arms and would oppose any infringement of those rights, including a ban in any other form.

MURKOWSKI: I do not support the extension or resurrection of the ban on semiautomatic, assault-style weapons.
