Scott Pruitt: Claimed abortion linked to breast cancer & infertility

In the state Senate, he sponsored legislation to restrict abortion, including an "informed consent" bill. "[Women] need to know that there's a link with breast cancer," Pruitt said in 2003. "They need to know that there's a risk with infertility; they need to know that there are emotional risks attendant with abortion procedures." Leading medical groups say all of those claims are either false or misleading.

George Pataki: Vetoes non-prescription morning-after pill

New York’s Gov. George Pataki confirms he will veto a bill that would make the so-called “morning-after” pill available without a prescription. Abortion-rights advocates in the state are hoping to pressure him into signing the legislation. Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney recently vetoed similar legislation; both men are eyeing possible presidential runs in 2008.
