On Jobs: Substitute Ethanol for MBTE in gasoline

Alexander suggests that ethanol be used in place of a petroleum based gasoline additive - MTBE - which he said has been found to cause groundwater contamination. Alexander said the federal Clean Air Act requires gasoline to be oxygenated and many states, including California, Maine and Massachusetts, have approved MTBE for that use. Ethanol, he said, "is a logical and safe substitute."
