Twitter.com election tweets: on Abortion

Allen Glines: Can't control reproductive rights yet oppose govt. overreach

Allen Glines for US Senate and Utah @AllenBGlines:

You cannot claim to be pro life and then suppress and oppress everyone outside of the 1 percent the moment they're born. If a life begins at conception, it does not end at birth.

You can also not claim to be against government overreach while cheering on municipalities that seek total control of the reproductive rights of women.

Bob Harlow: Support a woman's right to control her body

Harlow posted on Twitter: "Sadly, @JudgeBradleyWI, who opposes a woman's right to control her body & called our LGBT brothers and sisters 'immoral' is now on the WI SC."

OnTheissues note: Judge Rebecca Bradley had written in 1992 in the Marquette Tribune that supporters of abortion on demand (such as newly elected president Bill Clinton) were murderers. That and other decades-old anti-choice and anti-gay statements were a major issue in Bradley's 2016 judgeship race, which Bradley won.

Eddie Rispone: Pro-life, pro-God, pro-family

My faith, family, and conservative values are everything to me, which is exactly why I'm running for governor. It's time Louisiana has a pro-life, pro-God, and pro-family governor to put our state back on track.

John Cornyn: Endorsed by Texas Right to Life

Shortly after Stockman's 11th-hour announcement, Cornyn's campaign issued a statement saying, "Endorsed by Texas Right to Life and ranked as the second most conservative senator in America, Senator Cornyn looks forward to discussing his conservative record with Texans."

Abortion isn't an issue on which the two men differ, though when Cornyn was running the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he withdrew support for Todd "legitimate rape" Akin. (He did, however, stand by failed Indiana Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, who made his own inflammatory comments on rape.)

Texas remains ground zero for the struggle over abortion rights. Much of the omnibus abortion bill filibustered by Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis last June has become law, though it will be heard by the Fifth Circuit in January. Davis is now running for governor in the same election cycle as Stockman and Cornyn.

Julia Letlow: Will fight against abortion, strongly pro-life

As a mother of two, being pro-life is not only a value I share with many of our constituents, it's personal. I've seen firsthand the beauty of life and I will always fight to protect it.

Kat Cammack: Does not support Roe v. Wade

Today is the heartbreaking 48th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Since then, over 62 million babies have been lost. This issue is personal to me. I'm only here today because my mom went against the advice of her doctors and had me. I'll never stop fighting for the sanctity of life.

Kelly Craft: Abortion is not healthcare, not safe in any circumstance

Archive: Ambassador Kelly Craft @USAmbUN30:

Chief among those are outrageous efforts to use this resolution to promote the global abortion industry. The U.S. could not be clearer: there is no international right to abortion. Abortion is not healthcare. Abortion is not safe in any circumstance.

Steve Stockman: AdWatch: If babies had guns, they wouldn't be aborted

Stockman's famously incendiary tweets are enjoying increased scrutiny. Here's a sampling:

Hilary Franz: I'll ensure that WA is a sanctuary for reproductive care

I know from personal experience how important access to affordable reproductive care is. I'll always fight for reproductive freedom, strike down extremist attacks, and ensure that WA is a sanctuary for reproductive care.
