Bob Massie: End mandatory minimums for low level drug offenses

Particularly happy to see an end to mandatory minimums for low level drug offenses and stricter requirements for race and ethnic data collection of those arrested. Now let's hope that @CharlieBakerMA doesn't block common sense reform and keep laws that harm our communities. We need more action like this if we want to see a fairer justice system.

Ending Mandatory Minimums: Eliminates statutory sentences for many low-level, non-violent drug offenses.
Expungement: Courts will now be able to expunge juvenile and young adult (18-21) records, and cases where an offense is no longer a crime.
Diversion: to address the opioid epidemic, district attorneys must create pre-arraignment diversion programs for individuals with addiction or mental health issues [currently only available to defendants aged 22 and under).

Tom Perriello: Lead the fight to take on our backwards marijuana laws

Why are we jailing people for possessing small amounts of marijuana?
4/20 isn't just a joke. Today we should be frank on the need to get serious about reforming our backwards marijuana laws.
A veteran I met has chronic pain. His doctor prescribed opioids. He didn't want to get addicted, so he buys a joint in DC to dull his pain.
When three Virginians are dying every day from opioid addiction, why are we continuing to prohibit medical marijuana for pain treatment?
It is long past time here in Virginia to fix this. Opioid addiction is a public health crisis, not a criminal crisis.
It's time to allow medical marijuana to help combat this & find alternate pathways for treatment. Decriminalizing marijuana is a no-brainer.
As governor, I will lead these fights to take on our backwards marijuana laws.
