Twitter.com election tweets: on Free Trade
Amy McGrath:
No reason for tariffs against NATO allies
I fought alongside our NATO allies in Afghanistan (we still do). We all should reject notion that these nations are somehow now a national security threat. It's a lame excuse for Trump's idiotic tariffs.
[President Trump threatened tariffs against Europe and Canada, our NATO allies, to push for their raising their contributions to the NATO military alliance].

Donald Trump:
Country built on tariffs; they'll lead to new trade deals
@realDonaldTrump tweeted: "Our Country was built on Tariffs, and Tariffs are now leading us to great new Trade Deals - as opposed to the horrible and unfair Trade Deals that I inherited as your President.
Other Countries should not be allowed to come in and steal the wealth of our great U.S.A. No longer!" 11:04 AM - Aug 15, 2018

Gary Johnson:
Free trade, not isolationism; low spending, not taxes
TRUMP: Our jobs are fleeing the country. They're going to Mexico. They're going to many other countries. You look at what China is doing to our country in terms of making our product. They're devaluing their currency, and there's nobody in our
government to fight them. And we have a very good fight. And we have a winning fight. Because they're using our country as a piggy bank to rebuild China, and many other countries are doing the same thing.GARY JOHNSON: Free trade, not isolationism,
is what will lead to more U.S. jobs.
CLINTON: Well, I think that trade is an important issue. Of course, we are 5 percent of the world's population; we have to trade with the other 95 percent. And we need to have smart, fair trade deals. We also,
though, need to have a tax system that rewards work and not just financial transactions.
GARY JOHNSON: All the tax increases in the world are not going to balance the budget. Spending MUST be addressed

Gary Johnson:
Free trade means more jobs and lower prices
Donald Trump: NAFTA, signed by [Hillary Clinton's] husband, is perhaps the greatest disaster trade deal in the history of the world. It stripped us of manufacturing jobs.
Gary Johnson: Free trade means on net more jobs and lower prices for American families.

Jill Stein:
NAFTA destroyed jobs in US and Mexico
Donald Trump: I will be a president that will bring jobs back because NAFTA, signed by her husband, is perhaps the greatest disaster trade deal in the history of the world.
Jill Stein: The Clintons' support for NAFTA destroyed millions of jobs, including in Mexico where many farmers became economic refugees.

Rashida Tlaib:
Helping trade flow should mean good jobs for the community
27% of North American trade moves across our Detroit border--infrastructure projects like the
Gordie Howe International Bridge can create jobs, and we need community benefits agreements to make sure local folks get those jobs!

Chase Oliver:
Free markets & free trade; not central planning
- I support free markets, free trade, open and honest commerce.
- I oppose attempts at central planning and government controlling and picking winners and losers in the marketplace.
- The former creates prosperity, the latter creates poverty.
