Victimless crimes can’t be enforced as crimes of violence can. Since there’s no victim, no one files a complaint. So the government attacks such offenses with informants, sting operations, and all the other trappings of a police state. But it doesn’t stop gambling, prostitution, and drug traffic. We must take away from government the power to prosecute victimless crimes-and render the government powerless to enter any area of your life for which it has no explicit constitutional authority.

The scheme is to get homosexual marriage accepted in one state, to move couples “married” into all the other states, and then go to court to recognize the marriages -- to demand equal privileges.

Alan Keyes: “Hate crime” laws inappropriately punish attitudes

Let’s say a ruthless drug dealer exterminates a person who crossed him up. Put that side by side with a crime that is motivated by racial, or religious bigotry, but with the end result being the deliberate murder of an individual. Should we have two separate standards for these two murders? The proper approach to take toward crimes is to judge the act, not the attitude. The real purpose behind the hate crime legislation movement, however, is to accord to the government the right to punish attitudes.

Alan Keyes: “Hate crime” laws will be used to punish anti-gay opinions

The whole push with respect to hate crimes legislation is an effort to create a body of law that allows the government to coerce opinions, and to punish people because of their opinions. In this particular case, the opinion that is going to be punished is the opinion that homosexuality is immoral and against the laws of God. That opinion is now going to become a crime. And this whole push with respect to hate crimes is an effort to establish that agenda.
