OnTheIssues interviews with presidential candidates: on War & Peace

Paul Adams: We cannot be the enablers of instability in the Mideast

Q: Do you support or oppose the policy, "Avoid foreign entanglements"?

A: I agree. We can no longer afford it. We can't be meddling in other countries affairs. Israel should seek to make Jerusalem its unpartitioned capital. Palestinians should have their own homeland, anywhere, as long as peace in the region will be ensured. We cannot be the enablers of instability in the region.

Marc Allan Feldman: Drop philanthropy on other countries instead of bombs

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Avoid foreign entanglements"?

A: Support. I am not isolationist. I just prefer to drop free trade, education, tourism, and private philanthropy on other countries instead of bombs. Government foreign aid is expensive, inefficient, and often harmful. Government aid generally takes money from poor people in rich countries to give it to rich people in poor countries.

Mark Stewart: I firmly believe that Right makes Might

Q: Do you support or oppose the statement, "Avoid foreign entanglements"?

A: See my Wage Peace argument above. But be willing to preserve Americans' lives and lifestyle against terrorists. Where we are right, and we have the capacity to exterminate evil, i lean toward doing so. I firmly believe that Right makes Might. We are the sustained the biggest*-and-best armed force in part because we use it for good. When a wealthy country can extirpate evil and free many people in the process, I believe it should do so, at least on a small scale. For large scale "nation-building" I believe we need a referendum. But that's down the road, after we first get our domestic house in order. When we become a domestic model. we have even more going for us in our ventures abroad.

* Yes, China has more men under arms. But if called upon, American volunteers fighting for liberty (I'd never draft Americans) would exceed China's military in the first month.

Mark Stewart: Declare war on Boko Haram in northern Nigeria

I have given Boko Haram, an evil organization, an ultimatum, If they don't heed it while Obama is president, their terms with me will be a lot worse. If they have not returned the kidnapped Nigerian girls, and made restitution to families of them and the boys they slaughtered, by THIS September, come January 21, I will go to Congress and request a declaration of war. If for some reason I don't get it from the remaining quislings in Congress, I will issue private letters of marque and reprisal against Boko Haram's leaders and recruits. They will face the fury of American goodness against their evil. And yes, though I'm not especially fit, I will be on that first flotilla "to the shores of Tripoli."

David Walker: Out of Iraq & Afghanistan; no ground troops in Iran

Q: What is your opinion on the statement, "US out of Iraq and Afghanistan"?

A: We should be out of both.

Q: What about Iran?

A: We should not go to Iran. No way should we commit ground troops in connection with Iran. Israel has significant capability to protect itself. We should try to resolve the Iran crisis with diplomacy and economic and other sanctions if at all possible.

Robert Steele: Iraq spending could have begun "infinite wealth" in USA

For what we spent on Iraq we could have given a free cell phone to each of the five billion poor and begun to create "infinite wealth" and the "wealth of networks" around the globe.

Robert Steele: US out of Iraq & Afghanistan

Q: Do you support getting the US out of Iraq?

A: Strongly Support. Also out of Afghanistan and out of all of our overseas bases. We went to Iraq on the basis of 935 now-documented lies, and the naked amorality in the federal government continues today as the bi-opoly strives to take us to war on Iran. Neither the OMB nor the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) nor the Congress have a coherent strategic analytic model, or a commitment to making sane, coherent policy that is in the public interest.

JL Mealer: Out of Iraq & Afghanistan; stay in Pakistan

Q: What is your opinion on the statement, "US out of Iraq and Afghanistan"?

A: SUPPORT; this never ending battle to control the factions that will never cease fighting amongst themselves and where we have no real objective. Pakistan appears to be the main terrorist supporting nation against the USA and we have been funding them to fund the terrorists.

Q: What is your opinion on the statement, "US out of Iraq and Afghanistan"?

Brian Moore: End wars by removing greed motivation & cultural alienation

Wars will almost be entirely eliminated because the cause of greed, weapon sales, nuclear power elimination and cultural alienation will have been eliminated. In rare instances of upheaval, due to dictators, or ethnic cleansing within a country, will there be necessary to have a minimum security apparatus. Peace will be more accessible, and war less perennial, with only the human instincts of selfishness and possession that will have to be defeated and challenged.
