On Foreign Policy: Unite moderate Arab countries to isolate & contain Iran

In May 2017, I joined the president on his first foreign trip, with stops in Saudi Arabia, Israel, & Brussels for a NATO meeting; Rome to visit the Vatican; and Sicily for the G7. The trip was important because it was the president's first trip abroad, and in Saudi Arabia he planned to announce a new strategy for the Middle East to focus less on democracy and more on nation building and uniting Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the US-led coalition to isolate and contain Iran, our most dangerous adversary in the region. The president was set to give a major speech and open the new Global Center to combat extremism and terrorism. Leaders from 55 Muslim countries attended the meeting in Riyadh. This was the first such gathering and was a direct result of the leadership of the Trump administration. On the first day of the visit Trump also signed an investment deal with the Saudis that promised to bring $110 billion into the United States.

On Government Reform: Confirmation of Neil Gorsuch among top accomplishments

Just a few days before Christmas the Senate passed the president's tax cuts with unanimous Republican support, and the president signed it into law. We celebrated at the White House, and American business celebrated by handing out Christmas bonuses to millions of their employees. We had finished the presidents first year strong, and despite some setbacks, it was clear the president had a lot of major achievements to be proud of--a booming economy--millions of new jobs and trillions in new wealth-- lower taxes on families and businesses--repeal of the ObamaCare mandate--greater energy independence--confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court--ISIS on the run and their caliphate in ruins.

The press never gave the president much credit for these achievements--90% of the media coverage in the first year of the Trump presidency was negative. The American people ended 2017 much better with Trump than his predecessor, but you certainly wouldn't know it from the media coverage.

On Health Care: COVID: Supported China travel ban and national emergency

The president said in the State of the Union [on Feb. 5, 2020], "protecting Americans' health also means fighting infectious diseases. We are coordinating with the Chinese government and working closely together on the coronavirus outbreak in China. My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat."

On Jan. 31, President Trump had declared the coronavirus a public health emergency and announced travel restrictions for China. While the president and his team were starting preparations in the event of an outbreak in the US, many leading Democrats in Washington were too distracted by impeachment to care about the emerging threat.

Despite criticism from Democrats and the media, the president made the right call with the travel ban. He was also right to declare a national emergency and implement social distancing guidelines--not forever, but until we flattened the curve--which likely prevented the failure of hospitals and prevented many American deaths.

On War & Peace: Hard line against Russia: sanctions & diplomatic expulsions

Unlike the Obama administration, the Trump administration had actually taken a hard line against Russia, which the media hardly ever reported because it didn't fit their Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Since taking office, President Trump had imposed crippling sanctions on Russia; closed Russian diplomatic properties in the United States and expelled Russian spies pretending to be diplomats; approved the sale of lethal arms to Ukraine to defend against Russian aggression; persuaded NATO allies to increase their military spending to deter Russia; isolated and sanctioned Russia's worst proxies: Iran and Venezuela; made America the number one producer of oil and gas, lowering the cost of energy and hurting the Russian economy; and rebuilt our military so that neither Russia nor any other foreign adversary could challenge the United States.
