Not beholden to establishment; so Steve serves you
The establishment loves these current [campaign finance] rules because, unless you are blessed like me with independent resources, they have ways of shutting you out! The lobbyists have made their choice.
They are not backing me because I am independent; I am not beholden to special interests, not beholden to the lobbyists, not beholden to the establishment. I am here to serve you, and I vow to do that.

Political & Economic freedom come from moral foundations
Freedom has three vital components: economic, political and moral. In the 20th century, the argument for economic freedom [and political freedom] has largely been won. Yet. we have neglected the vital task of properly teaching our children, reminding
ourselves, and communicating to others, that man’s rights to live free, pursue happiness and own property come from God, and are to be secured by the state. [We should] restore the severely weakened moral foundations of our country.

We won the Cold War; why isn’t US a better place to live?
People are very frustrated today. We’ve won the Cold War. We’re the most powerful nation in history. And yet they ask, for example, why is it that two incomes in the family can’t provide the opportunity and the lifestyle that one income could in previous
generations? Why is there so much divisiveness in the nation today? Why aren’t we getting along better? In short, why isn’t America a better place to live if we have all this great power and if we’ve had this enormous triumph?

Spending contributions is like spending taxes; Steve won’t
Regarding spending his own money on his campaign: “A lot of my opponents’ money has gone for massive infrastructure and mass mailings. Mass mailings to get government subsidies. I’m not taking any government subsidies. I took my message directly to the
voters. I can’t resist playfully adding that if my opponents who call themselves fiscal conservatives, spent their contributors’ money that way, imagine what they’re going to do to tax payers’ money.”
