Theresa Greenfield on Energy & Oil

Take urgent action to address man-made climate change

We need to take urgent climate action to address man-made climate change. We must take urgent climate action that lowers our carbon footprint and invests in renewable energy in a way that creates good-paying jobs for Iowans. When it comes to renewable energy, Iowa has already been a leader, as more than 40% of our electricity comes from wind, creating an industry that directly employs around 10,000 Iowans.

Climate change is getting worse; urgent action needed

Q: Consider human-caused climate change a serious threat?

Theresa Greenfield: Yes. Advocates "urgent climate action." "Climate change is getting worse. We've seen it in extensive floods that destroy our fields and wash away parts of our cities."

Joni Ernst: No. "I think there is probably a contribution [by humans, but] if we wipe all industry off the face of the Earth, our climate is still going to change."

Supports expanded renewable fuel market

Q: Opinion on EPA rules?

Theresa Greenfield: "Will fight for good-paying clean energy jobs and defend and strengthen our environmental laws that are under attack." Supports expanded renewable fuel market.

Joni Ernst: Voted to uphold new EPA rule on carbon emissions for power plants that repealed the 2015 Clean Power Plan. Has supported federal funding for wind energy job training and more biofuel use.

Bio fuels can be part of solution to climate change

Q: Can we continue to bet on ethanol given movement towards electric vehicles and away from fossil fuels?

Greenfield: We have to take urgent climate action. In my Fair Shot for Farmers plan I focus on a number of things from trade, to leveling the playing field, to investing in conservation, focusing on making sure that we become the first net zero farm industry. We need to invest in research to understand what else we can do from shipping to airplanes, we need to invest in bio-based manufacturing

Fight for clean energy jobs; strengthen environmental laws

Climate change is getting worse. We can't afford to have Senators who question and deny the science. Theresa is proudly endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund.

Theresa will fight for good-paying clean energy jobs and defend and strengthen our environmental laws that are under attack from the corporate special interests in Washington.

Fight for strong clean energy solutions

LCV press release: "I'm so grateful to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, said Greenfield. "With record flooding and severe weather harming our families and communities here in Iowa, it's increasingly clear that we can't afford leaders who reject the science on climate change and who refuse to take action to tackle this crisis. I'll be proud to fight for strong clean energy solutions, invest in good-paying jobs, and defend and strengthen our environmental laws."
