Betsy Summers on Civil Rights

Let partners in marriage define marriage

Should Gay Couples Be Allowed to Marry? Like every partnership, marriage should fit the individuals it unites, rather than be a "one-size-fits all" proposition defined by those outside the relationship. Each marriage should be what the partners want it to be-no more, no less.

Civil unions ok, gay marriage ok

Q: Should same-sex couples be allowed to form civil unions?

A: Yes.

Q: Should marriage be restricted to a union only between a man and a woman?

A: No. It is not the role of the federal government to determine the definition of marriage.
