Steve Russell on Budget & Economy

We are facing a crisis due to our accumulation of debt

Americans from both sides of the aisle know we are facing a crisis due to our accumulation of debt, but very few know how indebted we have truly become.

Under this President, the federal debt has exceeded that of every previous president combined. With our national debt now at $17 trillion, there are serious concerns with our ability to pay back what we owe so that future generations can live in prosperity. Though President Obama and many Republicans have campaigned on lowering our national debt and balancing the budget, we have seen too little action and too much politically expedient rhetoric.

We must deal with our debt or our debt will deal with us. Now is our time to act. We must reduce spending now, and we must reduce the size and scope of the federal government.

We cannot continue to spend what we do not have

Question topic: Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self interest into the fairest and most productive economic system there is, and are the key to national prosperity.

Russell: Strongly Agree

Question topic: Briefly list political or legislative issues of most concern to you.

Russell: The national deficit - We cannot continue to spend what we do not have. We must have a budget and an economic framework supported by less government and free enterprise.
