Jay Townsend on Health Care

Schumer Plan skyrockets premiums; loses jobs; raises taxes

The health care plan rammed through the Senate by Sen. Schumer will swell the ranks of the jobless, raise taxes on those who can least afford them, cause health insurance premiums to skyrocket, and place federal bureaucrats between doctor and patient. I will deprive millions of Americans of access to the quality health care they have come to expect, retard the development of new miracle drugs & medical devices, force doctors into early retirement, and ruin the best health care system the world has known

Free and unfettered competition over European model

Washington's ruling elite, in their mad rush to emulate the European health care system, ignored far more sensible approaches to increasing access to affordable insurance. Instead Congress created a new entitlement that this nation cannot afford and that will ultimately lead to price controls and health care rationing.

Free and unfettered competition in the marketplace will do more to improve access to quality health care than any of the statist models considered or enacted by the current Congress

Opposes government-run healthcare.

Townsend opposes the CC survey question on government-run healthcare

The Christian Coalition voter guide [is] one of the most powerful tools Christians have ever had to impact our society during elections. This simple tool has helped educate tens of millions of citizens across this nation as to where candidates for public office stand on key faith and family issues.

The CC survey summarizes candidate stances on the following topic: "Federal government run health care system"

Townsend signed Club for Growth's "Repeal-It!" Pledge
